5 Emmerdale spoilers as Cain gets reckless, Joe Tate demands an answer and Jai’s big secret
Charity Dingle confronts Cain over his reckless behaviour(Image: ITV)Emmerdale viewers are in for another week of chaos and drama in the Dales as Joe Tate is determined to get his farmland, Bear Wolf is still struggling in the aftermath of Ray and Celia, and Manpreet Sharma is suspicious for Laurel Thomas.
Recently in the ITV soap, it’s been a year since the tragic Valentine’s Day limo crash which saw the lives of three villagers taken for good in the drama.
However, it appears the Yorkshire-based soap isn’t ready for its villagers to have a quiet year, as the storylines continue to get more explosive. Following Cain’s prostate cancer diagnosis, his behaviour seemingly becomes more reckless, but he may have to give everything up to the Tates.
Meanwhile, love has been blossoming as Vinny and Lewis have been getting closer – particularly with the help of good friend Kammy Hadiq who has been rooting for them both.

Paddy conjures up a plan for Bear…
Paranoid and terrified, Bear shambles along an isolated country road, hiding from any passing traffic. Paddy is distraught having spent the night fruitlessly searching for Bear. Soon things get worse for Paddy and Dylan when DS Walsh calls round as a result of Bear breaching his bail and assaulting Jacob in the hospital – he’ll be held on remand when he’s found.
Soon Paddy finds Bear in a bad way next to Anya’s now empty grave site and coaxes Bear back to his car. Paddy knows he needs to inform DS Walsh, however he thinks he can avoid Bear’s immediate imprisonment by paying for him to stay at a secure mental health unit. But will Paddy’s plan work?
Joe Tate circles as he hopes to buy the farm…
When Lydia offers to look after the boys for a few days, proud Cain rejects her offer, but once he’s alone it’s obvious how close he is to breaking point. Before long Cain’s apoplectic to hear Joe’s arranged a herd inspection due to a suspected TB case, especially as it means nothing can be moved off the farm until they receive an all clear.
Later, after Joe restates his offer to buy the farm, Cain remains silent on the matter but Matty affirms his desire to keep the farm going for Moira, however there’s a sense the future of Butlers Farm as it is now – is doomed…
Sarah and Cain’s secret is affecting others in the village…
Cain’s made it clear to Sarah that he won’t be involving her in any more car thefts. But knowing that the potential TB outbreak might lose them the farm, Sarah can’t help herself when she spies a sports car parked outside the village hall. She’s about to speed off when Jacob appears furious to have caught his wife stealing his boss’ flash motor knowing it could easily spell the end of his medical career.
Soon he’s hurt by Sarah’s inability to tell him the truth about what’s really going on. Sarah is stymied from admitting the truth about Cain, as Cain still insists on keeping his cancer a secret from everyone. Cain’s ready to explode when Jacob turns up shouting about getting Sarah stealing cars. Soon Charity’s livid too, giving Cain both barrels over what would cause him to jeopardise his granddaughter’s freedom, Cain stalks off to avoid the questions.
Cain’s left brooding after Liam gently advises stealing cars with his granddaughter is perhaps an indication his strategy of keeping his cancer diagnosis a secret isn’t working and he is missing out on the support and guidance of his family at a crucial time. Jacob is frustrated as yet again Sarah rushes to make sure her granddad is OK.
But once there, Sarah explains she is fed up with being the only one in the family who knows and calls Cain a coward for being unable to front up to his nearest and dearest. With his cancer, Moira being incarcerated and Joe’s continuing pressure to get the farm. Even Graham is advising that selling up is the best course of action.. But will Cain agree?
