Chris McKenna Claps Back At ‘General Hospital’ Haters
Chris McKenna took over the role of Jack Brennan from Charles Mesure on General Hospital (GH). Well, it seems that in his short tenure with the WSB in Port Charles, he’s been getting negativity from ABC fans. So, he recently clapped back on social media.
Things Were Going Well
So far, things seemed good between the actor and ABC fans. One of the things he did that made people happy was talk about his Australian accent–or the lack of it on the show. Being open to sharing a bit about his role was popular with GH fans.
Another time fans were happy came when the real-life Jack Brennan offered some information about his audition for the role previously played by Mesure. He said, “It was a unique scene just to get the feel of the character and to see how the chemistry was between Laura and me, and it was great.”
Soap fans were also excited to hear that Chris McKenna would appear alongside Finola Hughes and Eden McCoy in an upcoming mega Zoom event in June. So, you might wonder what negativity the actor felt compelled to respond to.
The Clap Back
Chris is active on X, formerly known as Twitter, and last week, he posted about people disrespecting the other people who work on the show. In his caption, the daytime dramastar said, “Guys, say whatever you like. But there’s no need to @ me with complaints about my friends, cast mates, bosses, and colleagues.”
Next, he reminded critics that there are ways to stop their negative interaction. He pointed out, “@ ing us is a privilege easily revoked.” Sarcastically, he concluded by saying, “And if you’re worried there’s not enough negativity on the internet, you can take the day off. You’re covered. Be nice.”
Reactions To The Post
One follower remembered the other times that McKenna interacted with fans. They wrote, “Well said. I seriously appreciate the time you take to engage with your fans and viewers. I was just at a fan event with Laura Wright, and she enchanted us with positive vibes about you.”
Similarly, another follower commented, “Its sad that you should even have to post this…Some people live in negativity…When a person has God in their heart, the positivity overflows unto others…”
Giving an example of the sort of trolling that he experienced, Chris McKenna wrote in the comments, “Some lunatic posted on all my insta that I was an “old ugly grandpa!!!!” and “how dare you come between Joss and Carly!!!!!”…A fascinating melange of delusions.”
Well, it probably illustrates that Chris is a great actor because Cameron Mathison gets that sort of thing all the time. He plays the role of Drew Cain so well that he’s constantly attacked for his characterization on the show.
