Why Bold and Beautiful Fans Say Luna and Will’s Storyline Crossed a Line Too Far

Luna’s scheme to get a drunk Will into bed came to fruition on The Bold and Beautiful. The August 21 episode saw her clad in Electra’s mask as she impersonated the Forrester jeweler to further lower his inhibitions. By design, she’d ensured he’d be too out of it to notice that he wasn’t making love to his girlfriend; he was being assaulted.

Bold And The Beautiful Fans Want Change

Fans of the soap saw this storyline coming, and they aren’t happy. B&B has a history of putting characters in predatory or non-consensual situations that are either immediately walked back or completely rewritten months later.

The last time Luna (Lisa Yamada) was involved in a hook-up like this, she’d thought she was sleeping with RJ (Joshua Hoffman) when she was really in bed with Zende (Delon de Metz). Then, it was revealed she’d known the whole time what was going on, and she let Zende think he’d accidentally taken advantage of her. Soap Hub noted everything wrong with the Luna and Zende mint mix-up at the time.

There’s nothing accidental about what Luna has done to Will. Outraged, B&B fans have taken to social media to share their disgust with this plot and call for storylines of this nature to stop.

A Fine Line

Soap operas walk a fine line when it comes to what’s acceptable. They’re campy, over-the-top, nonsensical, and so intertwined that you’d be hard-pressed to find a character who hasn’t had a love interest they’re related to in some fashion. Storylines that involve rape and sexual assault by characters that don’t have a short shelf life on the soap often receive criticism and backlash from fans because the crime is downplayed.

Media critics noted that Todd’s 1993 gang‑rape of Marty on One Life to Live was “more intense than just about anything that had ever been shown on daytime television,” underscoring how blurred‑consent plots have long risked alienating viewers and drawing serious scrutiny. That’s exactly what’s happening on X (formerly Twitter) with B&B.

One fan took to the social media platform to express her distaste. “Do better #BoldandBeautiful I don’t wanna keep seeing drunk or drugged out young folks getting sexually assaulted!! #BoldandtheBeautiful,” she wrote.

“Unfortunately, everyone and their grandmother saw this disgusting storyline coming… AGAIN!” another viewer noted. “#boldandbeautiful is muddying the water when consent is concerned…smh and it yet again involves Luna.. wasn’t that sl with Zende bad enough???”

Fans also felt that the soap owed it to viewers to do better when it comes to consent storylines. One explained, “It’s 2025, and Bold & the Beautiful is still mishandling rape storylines.

“On top of that, multiple characters have been completely sacrificed to prop up Luna,” she continued. “Bill’s [Don Diamont] character has been wrecked. Li [Naomi Matsuda] is being torn apart. Any progress Sheila [Kimberlin Brown] made? Gone.”

A B&B Plot Twist That Would Have Been Better

There was room for B&B not to go this route with Luna and Will (Crew Morrow). She could have plied him with 180-proof alcohol and been foiled. Whether that was Deacon (Sean Kanan) putting him in an Uber. Or Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) catching up to Luna before anything could happen.

One fan came up with the best twist of all. What if Will got together with Lainey (Heidi Grace Engerman—here’s what you need to know)?

“We could have had something more organic, like an old-fashioned drunken hook-up,” a viewer declared. “I actually like Will’s chemistry with that girl (don’t recall her name), but instead, we have Luna creeping on a passed-out Will.”

Will and Lainey have had great chemistry since meeting at Forrester. They get along like a house on fire, and we saw Electra not so subtly break up their conversation at the party. Seeing Will deal with a poor decision he made under the influence would be better than the story we’ll be watching due to Luna’s actions.
