From Stables to Secrets: GH’s Cody Realizes Molly Means More Than Money

General Hospital’s Cody Bell has made plenty of questionable choices since arriving in Port Charles, but his latest decision may finally point him toward the kind of honesty he’s been avoiding. After Molly caught him kissing Ava, Cody stopped hiding behind excuses and revealed the truth: Kristina had been paying him to cozy up to Ava. For actor Josh Kelly, that moment of confession signaled something bigger than another scheme gone wrong – it showed Cody where his heart really lies.

He Must Complete the Mission

Kelly spoke with Soap Opera Digest about this latest turn of events. Up until now, Cody has been able to justify his behavior by telling himself he had a mission to complete, even when it meant going too far. As Kelly admitted, Cody “has found a good excuse – or what he believes is a good excuse” to keep going with Ava despite pangs of conscience. He even shrugged off getting physical with her in the stables, joking, “Might as well finish the mission!”

But seeing Molly’s reaction shook Cody in a way he wasn’t expecting. Kelly noted that Molly’s (Kristen Vaganos) response made him reconsider how she truly feels. “Out of left field, she’d been treating him kind of meanly,” the actor recalled. That made Cody think that Molly wasn’t interested in him. But her reaction upon catching him with Ava made him think on a subconscious level that he was wrong.

Planting the Seeds of Something Real

Kelly believes that part of what draws Cody to Molly is her rare sincerity. He explained that her honesty is not very common in Port Charles. Both characters have been hurt, and that’s the foundation upon which they can relate. “And when the universe keeps putting you together, you start to take notice,” he remarked.

Despite the risks, the actor feels the confession may plant the first seeds of something real between Cody and Molly. “And seeds can grow,” he quipped. The actor further stated that at the end of the day, “Cody cares about Molly more than money, so it’s refreshing.
