She admitted their quick engagement fueled the skepticism, but her family’s assumptions and judgments made her extremely disappointed. The Plath family has shown a lack of understanding about her choice and was also unwilling to truly get to know Zac before making any judgments.

Zac also echoed a similar feeling, confessing he was shocked when Ethan even questioned his sexuality during the proposal, calling it “kind of ironic.” Though they had a rocky start, the couple agrees it was all coming purely from her brother’s protective nature. He was still hurtful and upsetting. Lydia has consented to stand firmly by her husband, Zac, and maintain her loyalty to him. She also shared the hurt she endured at her brother’s hands.

In an interview, Lydia said it was “disappointing” that some family members used the event to “get attention and try to make a mess of things.” Reportedly, some drama involved her brothers, Ethan and Isaac, clashing with Micah and his girlfriend, Veronica Peters. The season’s mid-trailer covered it extensively. Micah, 24, left the ceremony with injuries that required stitches.

Lydia said her wedding had “120 people that were fully supporting us, and we don’t need to go watch it with the four people who weren’t.” The couple exchanged their vows on that day and consciously wish to cherish that memory, and nothing else.

“That morning we just woke up and said, ‘It’s been a journey, but we are choosing joy,’” Lydia recalled. She said that despite what unfolded on screen, she remained focused on her marriage. The reality TV star doesn’t need to watch the version of events that are not concerned with her. She wants to remember her wedding day as “joy-filled” and peaceful. For her, the day was free of drama, tension, or disruption, and that memory will hold forever in their heart.
