Time for the ultimate reality TV scavenger hunt!
Want to play Survivor? Well, now it appears you don’t have to go through marathon casting sessions and fly all the way to Fiji to do it. Nor do you have to starve, freeze, and risk venomous snake bites! That’s because the powers that be are now bringing Survivor to every state in the USA (sorry, Canada).
While you won’t be able to compete in a swim-off against Ozzy or attempt to blindside the R-I-Z-G-O-D, you can get a taste of Survivor 50 by engaging in a good ol’ fashioned idol hunt. That’s because, as part of the big Survivor 50 campaign, there will be immunity idols hidden in all 50 states for something called the “Survivor 50 Challenge.” And they are all up for grabs.

Host and showrunner Jeff Probst announced the news in a very scenic video (which can be watched below).
“Next season, Survivor hits a major milestone — our 50th season,” he begins in front of majestic waters. “And to celebrate, we are inviting you to be part of the fun. For the first time ever, we are taking Survivor across America. We have hidden immunity idols — 50 of them, one in every state. Your job: solve the clues, find the idol for a shot at an unbelievable prize.”
So how does it work? According to a CBS press release, the campaign, which begins Jan. 30, will be “Turning all 50 states into the setting for an immersive multi-week scavenger hunt: each hiding one official immunity idol.” And to find one an idol, fans must visit Survivor50Challenge.com to sign up for alerts as to “when the clue will drop in your state” as well as “challenge details, updates, rewards and exclusive content.”
Those who find idols must then submit a photo of themselves wearing the idol, where they will be immediately entered into a grand prize sweepstakes. The press release also notes that “One additional winner will be selected through an online component of the Survivor 50 Challenge Hub.”
While the grand prize has yet to be announced, the conclusion of the nationwide search and ultimate winner announcement will lead up to the three-hour premiere of Survivor 50 on Feb. 25 on CBS.
“Survivor has always been about testing yourself — solving problems, facing the unknown and finding out what you’re made of,” Probst says in a statement as part of the press release. “For 25 years, fans have watched players take that journey. Now, with the Survivor 50 Challenge, we’re letting fans try it for themselves! This goes way beyond finding idols, it’s a chance to step into the game like never before. America has watched players outwit, outplay and outlast for decades – now it’s your turn. The hunt is on. Time to dig deep!”
