Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley addresses his future on the ITV soap as Cain Dingle receives a devastating prostate cancer diagnosis.
Emotions are poised to reach fever pitch this week as long-standing village stalwart Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) will learn he has prostate cancer.
The heartbreaking health plot initially unfolded during the highly anticipated Corriedale special that broadcast last month.
Near the episode’s conclusion, Emmerdale viewers overheard a medic discussing test results with an unidentified patient. Whilst the patient’s identity remained hidden initially, ITV audiences were informed that a ‘sizeable mass’ had been discovered.
The camera then revealed Cain lying in a hospital bed alongside his wife, Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb), who appeared distressed beside him, before she encountered difficulties with law enforcement.
With a special episode broadcasting tonight (February 4), ITV audiences will witness Cain receiving his formal diagnosis as viewers will access his internal monologue, narrating events from the character’s viewpoint, reports the Daily Star.

Discussing the forthcoming health narrative on Wednesday’s This Morning, actor Jeff Hordley spoke about his show future, having originally joined in 2000.
Cat Deeley enquired: “How do you think the cancer diagnosis is going to affect Cain in the long-term?”
He responded: “Well, I mean, this story is going to play for a while. I don’t even think the writers, the team or the producers have decided where it’s going to go as from now.

“It’s going to play for a while, and we’ll just have to wait and see where it goes.”
Currently in the soap, Cain’s wife and pillar of support, Moira, has been removed after being arrested and charged with a double murder, following the discovery of two bodies on the farm.
Discussing the absence of support, Jeff added: “He wants to keep it from everyone, he doesn’t confide in anybody, to do with all of this. He doesn’t want to tell Moira because she’s in prison, and she’s having a tough time.
“The person who he’d normally confide in and use for his source of comfort is not there because he wants to protect her. The kids, that’s a really big thing as well for him because he’s such a family man, it’s tough for him.”
Nevertheless, the actor revealed it’ll most likely be the broader members of the Dingle family who will be present to support Cain.
