Emmerdale star Bradley Riches took to social media and shared that his Nan had passed away just days before his wedding to fiancé Scott Johnston.

Actor Bradley Riches made his Emmerdale debut last year as Lewis Barton after he arrived in the village hoping for answers about his biological mother, Emma Barton.

Viewers may recall that Emma was killed by Moira Dingle, but it was Adam Barton who took the blame and has been on the run from the police ever since.

Since then, Lewis has become an integral part of the village, making close friends with Nicola King through his work at the cafe and has developed a flirty friendship with Vinny Dingle.

Not to mention, his sibling dynamic with Ross Barton who returned to the village in 2024 after some time away from the role, and was first seen fighting Billy Fletcher at an unlicensed boxing match.

Lewis is the first neurodivergent character to be on Emmerdale, and actor Bradley has opened up about the realities of being autistic and the importance of representation.

The actor is due to marry now-fiancé Scott Johnston in April. As 2025 came to a close, Bradley shared the video of his proposal once more and added: “2020 was my favourite yet but… 2026 gonna be even better as I get to marry my best friend”.

Sadly, just days before he’s due to say “I do”, Bradley took to his Instagram to share that his Nan had passed away. Sharing a snap of younger him and his Nan, he wrote: “Never did I think I would be saying goodbye to my Nan just days before my wedding Before my nan passed, she told me she’d be with me on my big day… and I know she will be.

“She loved Scott so much- never questioned us, just loved us fully. I will miss you every day. See ya later love you xxx”

Coronation Street star Cait Fitton penned: “Sending you so much love angel” as Michelle Hardwick added: “So sorry to read this” and Amelia Flanagan echoed: “Sending lots of love Brad”.
