Survivor legend calls Season 50 Blood Moon twist a ‘tribe swap flop’

Survivor 50 introduced the Blood Moon twist during its latest episode, but it didn’t land well with many fans and alums.
Yes, the new twist introduced chaos and excitement, but did it take away from the point of the game?
As a reminder, Jeff had the final 17 players drop their buffs for a (perceived) Merge.
Later, Ozzy gained safety by going to Exile Island, and he took Rizo along as a guest.
Jeff then had the remaining 15 players draw for teams, and they competed for Immunity and Reward.
The Blood Moon twist was that someone from each team would be voted out. It put several players in terrible positions due to the people they were grouped with.
The twist was almost certainly the reason that someone who found two Immunity Idols this season had her game cut short (Genevieve).
Kelley Wentworth dislikes the Survivor 50 twist
Survivor legend Kelley Wentworth made a scathing video about the twist.
Kelley appeared on Survivor: San Juan del Sur (Season 29), Survivor: Cambodia — Second Chance (Season 31), and Survivor: Edge of Extinction (Season 38).
Recently, she has become known for her hilarious online videos. She often pokes fun at current players and seasons. As an experienced player, she also offers a unique perspective.
“There was potential!! Butttt… Splitting people into random groups, aka tribes, at merge just to vote people off those new tribes is not that crazy or new this didn’t hit for me. Sorry but in the words of Liz Wilcox, ‘I’m p****d!’” Kelley wrote on Instagram.
“They really tried to make us believe the Blood Moon twist was rare, but in reality, it was a tribe swap flop,” the text reads on her video.
Kelley points out that Jeff Probst even tried to put the fans on the hook for this twist. She also dives into ways it could have been done better. Instead, it played as a big tribe swap, with three tribes debating a vote. None of the votes were surprising. It was easy to predict how each Tribal Council would go.
