OMG!!! AN ICONIC show is getting its own Survivor-style spinoff — What Really Happened?
Food Network reveals spinoff of fan-favorite show with ‘Survivor-style twist’ in first-of-its-kind announcement

AN ICONIC Food Network show is getting its own Survivor-style spinoff.
The network announced a brand-new show featuring a group of chefs that will be marooned on a remote island.
Chopped is trading stove tops for bonfires in Chopped Castaways, a spinoff series that will test their chef’s cooking skills in the wild, Variety reported.
Twelve elite chefs will compete for a $100,000 prize in challenges that combine survival and cooking skills.
The contestants will gather their cooking materials through Survivor-esque physical challenges, like spearfishing, diving in the ocean, and digging in the sand.
Chopped Castaways will premiere on May 12 at 9pm on the Food Network, and each episode will be available on HBO Max the following day.
The show will be hosted by longtime Chopped presenter Ted Allen, and feature judges including Gabe Bertaccini, Maneet Chauhan, and Marcus Samuelsson.
A description of the show reads: “Battling the elements across two grueling cooking rounds each week, competitors must build a working kitchen from basic supplies, earn their signature Chopped ingredient baskets through intense physical challenges, and cook entirely over open fire.”
The series will start as a team competition and move into an individual challenge, “raising the stakes as the chefs fight to outlast their rivals,” per the show synopsis.
Though the show resembles the competition series Survivor, which is currently airing its 50th season, the two shows have no formal ties.
