UPDATE (February 27, 1:22 PM ET): Mitch Guerra has now confirmed that he and Sai Hughley were never romantically involved. He posted on Instagram, “The Survivor 50 cast sat down to talk showmances… and in true Kamilla fashion, she made sure someone else was getting thrown under the bus. Shoutout to Swooon for collecting ALL the Season 48 secrets because somehow this didn’t even come out during our exit press.
“All is fair in love & Survivor… and the best way to flirt is clearly writing someone’s name down THREE times at Tribal 🔥 We aren’t even back out on the beach and Kamilla is already tossing us into oncoming traffic. For the record… NO, this isn’t actually true!! 😅 Happy Survivor 50!! 🏝️🔥”
Sai commented, “This has absolutely made my day and ruined it at the same time. @bacheloretteabc I hope the offer is still on the table even with this new leaked info.”
Kamilla Karthigesu also commented, “Ok ok ok not this revisionist history. WE ALL KNOW THIS WAS REAL. the only two single people at the merge???”
ORIGINAL: When Swooon asked Survivor 50 star Kamilla Karthigesu her showmance hot take, she did not hold back. Instead of offering a straightforward opinion on real-life love formed on reality TV, she revealed a little-known secret from her first season in Fiji.
According to Kamilla, there was a Survivor 48 showmance that never made it into the final edit. While she was not personally involved, she said the romance centered on one of her Civa tribemates, Mitch Guerra.
At the Survivor 50 premiere, Kamilla told Swooon, “I just need everyone to know that we had a showmance on Survivor 48 and that was Mitch and Sai [Hughley].” For anyone who watched that season, the claim lands like a major surprise, since there was no obvious sign of a connection between Mitch and Sai on screen. In fact, many viewers saw more of a rivalry than romance between the two castaways.
Kamilla said that’s because the alleged relationship didn’t survive the edit. “They completely edited it out of the show,” she explained. “But Mitch and Sai were definitely a showmance.”
Neither Mitch nor Sai has confirmed that they had a romantic connection on Season 48, but Sai did drop a clue for her Instagram followers about the rumored showmance on March 24, 2025. Posting a picture with Mitch at the Civa camp after the tribe swap, Sai wrote, “The worst Hinge date ever, he wouldn’t stop talking about Survivor 🥴 Tune in Wednesday to @survivorcbs to see how this date ends.”
At this point, it looks clear that Mitch and Sai did not carry the rumored showmance beyond their season. Even so, the two seem to be on good terms today, following each other on social media and appearing together in group photos from time to time.
