There’s an old saying: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” But what about being fooled four times across four different reality shows? That’s exactly what happened to the latest jury member on Survivor 50, Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, when Cirie Fields once again proved how dangerous her game can be.

Before diving into the latest blindside, it helps to rewind a little. LaGrossa’s fourth Survivor run had its highs and lows, but much of it centered around a majority alliance made up of old-school players. One by one, though, her allies disappeared, especially as they kept trusting Fields, who was actually much closer to her two allies, Oscar “Ozzy” Lusth and Rizo “Rizgod” Velovic.

In episode 10, LaGrossa still believed Fields and Lusth were in her corner, along with Joe Hunter and Jonathan Young. But once Fields learned that this group was planning to target Lusth, she quickly switched into defensive mode. At Tribal Council, after Rick Devens secured safety through the MrBeast twist — a coin flip that determined safety or elimination — LaGrossa tried to lead the charge against Aubry Bracco and even used her Steal-a-Vote advantage to take Devens’ vote and cast it against Bracco.

That plan fell apart fast. Devens publicly turned on LaGrossa and her allies during Tribal, forcing the group to scramble. Hunter and Young ultimately joined the vote against LaGrossa, and she was eliminated in a unanimous decision. With that, LaGrossa became the fifth member of the jury.

After competing together on Survivor: Heroes vs VillainsSnake in the Grass, and The Traitors — all shows where Fields found a way to get the upper hand — many viewers assumed LaGrossa would never trust Fields again on Survivor 50. Still, it was surprising, if only slightly, to see LaGrossa do exactly that once more, leading to yet another downfall.

As expected, this question came up early in LaGrossa’s exit interviews. Mike Bloom for Parade asked why she continued to trust Fields after everything that had happened between them, both before and during the season.

“I thought we were solid,” LaGrossa said, then pointed to the comments Fields used to keep her close: “You’re like family, Steph. We’re going to the end. It’s going to be like me and Parv [Parvati Shallow].”

That reference makes sense to anyone who has followed Fields and Shallow’s long connection. The two have played Survivor together multiple times, and Fields played a key role in helping Shallow during Survivor: Micronesia- Fans vs Favorites and Australian Survivor: Australia V The World.

“She’s good. She’s good at what she does. And I believed her,” LaGrossa admitted.

LaGrossa also explained why she didn’t turn on Young after Devens was safe and she found herself in danger.

“That’s just not who I am,” she said, adding that Young was the only man left she felt she could truly trust, and she wasn’t willing to betray her closest ally.

Finally, LaGrossa revealed that she had warned Fields and Lusth that their names were being thrown around before Tribal. She told them that if they didn’t continue keeping her as a shield, they could be the next ones out. She also noted that she had said something similar to Fields back in Heroes vs Villains, where Fields was voted out after her. If that turns out to be a spoiler, production may not be thrilled that one of this season’s most controversial casting choices may have hinted at what’s coming next.
