Shocking Survivor 50 Update: The Two Players Who Still Haven’t Received a Single Vote

Survivor 50 has already delivered plenty of drama, but this shocking vote stat raises one big question: is staying under the radar actually the smartest move?

Fans entered Survivor 50 expecting big gameplay, sharp strategy, major production twists, and a fan vote that would shape the season exactly the way they hoped. So far, the show has done an impressive job meeting the expectations of a fan base that has practically memorized all 49 previous seasons — or at least that’s the feeling from here.Still, it’s hard to ignore that not everyone appears to be fully in the game, or at least not at the level required to stand toe-to-toe with some of the biggest legends in Survivor history. For the most part, the new-era players are matching the older icons who helped build the game. There’s a bit of Parvati Shallow in Dee Valladares, and Aubry Bracco in Kamilla Karthigesu. However, some players entered with very different approaches, and by this point in the season, that contrast is impossible to miss — for better or worse. In particular, it has become clear that Jonathan Young and Joe Hunter are not the season’s fan favorites. And after episode 10, “A Side Dish of Chaos,” they may not be at the bottom of their tribes, but from a viewer’s perspective, there is a noticeable gap between them and the rest of the remaining cast.

Epic Party
“Epic Party” – 24 returning players are abandoned on the islands of Fiji for a monumental 50th season, with the chance to win $1 million. The theme of the season, “In the Hands of the Fans,” quickly materializes as decisions from the fan vote swiftly and forcefully impact the game in Survivor 50. That could actually be a positive for them, and it may be the right way to reach the end if winning is not their only focus. Right now, those two are the only players in the top nine who have not received a single vote this season. Here’s the full breakdown:

  • Rick Devens – 4 total votes received
  • Tiffany Ervin – 4 total votes received
  • Rizo Velovic – 4 total votes received
  • Aubry Bracco – 3 total votes received
  • Emily Flippen – 3 total votes received
  • Ozzy Lusth – 3 total votes received
  • Cirie Fields – 1 total votes received
  • Joe Hunter – 0 total votes received
  • Jonathan Young – 0 total votes received

Past seasons suggest — though not always — that the players whose names have been written down multiple times are often the ones taking the biggest risks and making the boldest moves. At the same time, going 19 days without receiving a vote is also a strong sign that these players are doing something right. Even if they are not running the game, they are still in a position very close to the person who is.Cirie Fields has been dominating this season socially and strategically, and she is not exactly trying to hide it from the rest of the cast. Yet the only vote she has received came at the very first Tribal Council, when Jenna Lewis-Dougherty thought she was voting for Cirie and not her target. And at that point, Cirie was not even playing as aggressively as she is now.So do these vote totals suggest Jonathan and Joe could go all the way? Or do they simply show that they are useful numbers for now, but likely targets later on? It would not be surprising if one of them made it to the end, but seeing both there feels unlikely. And now that Devens has an immunity idol, Joe — one of his biggest rivals this season — could be in real trouble. We will see how the MrBeast Super Beware Advantage plays out when Survivor 50 returns on Wednesday, May 6 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
