“Epic Party” – 24 returning players are abandoned on the islands of Fiji for a monumental 50th season, with the chance to win $1 million. The theme of the season, “In the Hands of the Fans,” quickly materializes as decisions from the fan vote swiftly and forcefully impact the game.
Scott Probst, the younger brother of Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst, has died. His passing was confirmed by their brother Brent Probst in an Instagram post earlier today. Scott was also part of the Survivor team, serving as an art assistant on the series from 2006 to 2008 and later as a cameraman from 2011 to 2012, according to his IMDb profile. In the announcement, Brent shared a short but emotional tribute to his brother, writing, “Some sad news, our brother Scott is no longer with us. He was a great brother, son, and friend. I will miss him so much [red heart emoji] I’m so sad he is gone.”

“Inconceivable” – This week’s immunity challenge is riddled with frustration, putting slow and steady gameplay to the test as the race to $2M gets closer.

The Survivor community quickly flooded the comments with condolences. Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X winner Adam Klein wrote, “I am so terribly sorry Brent. Sending love to you and your whole family.” Survivor 47 contestant Teeny Chirichillo added, “Think of you and your family. I’m so sorry,” while Survivor 45 alum Kendra McQuarrie shared, “So so sorry for your loss [blue heart emoji] sending lots of love to the family.”

Brent’s daughter Amanda Probst — Jeff and Scott’s niece, who has also worked on the long-running show in recent years — shared two heartfelt comments of her own, simply writing, “I love you dad,” before adding, “and uncle.”

The news arrives just as fans and players get ready for the upcoming Survivor 50 finale and live reunion on Wednesday, May 20. So far, neither CBS nor Probst’s representatives have said whether his schedule or public appearances will change.

As is often the case when a cherished member of the Survivor family dies, the next episode is usually dedicated in their honor. With episode 12 of Survivor 50 only days away, there is a chance it could be dedicated to Scott — though, with the finale approaching, CBS could also choose the more high-profile episode for that tribute. We’ll know soon enough if either happens.

At this time, no details have been released about memorial services or donation options in Scott’s honor. We respect the family’s privacy and will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.
