Cain Dingle may have survived his prostate cancer operation in Emmerdale, but there’s no sign of life easing up for him anytime soon.
Just as Cain begins dealing with the emotional and physical fallout from surgery, he’s dealt another crushing bombshell after discovering what Robert really did to Moira. And, as always, Cain’s reaction is anything but calm.
Cain had the cancer surgery in Emmerdale tonight
After nearly pulling out of the procedure weeks ago, Cain finally went ahead with the surgery on Monday, May 11.
While Moira tried to stay composed as he was taken into theatre, Kyle was left shaken after hearing Cain ask a nurse to tell his family he loved them if something went wrong.
The remark sent Kyle into a panic, convinced his dad wasn’t going to make it through the operation.
Thankfully, the surgeon later reassured the family that everything had gone to plan and Cain had come through safely.
Moira and the boys rushed to see him when he woke up, but the reality of recovery soon hit when a nurse arrived to check his catheter.
Cain struggles with the aftermath
The possibility that he could be permanently incontinent hits Cain hard, and he struggles to take it all in.
Although doctors are ready to send him home, Cain panics at the thought of handling the catheter himself and doesn’t want Moira to have to help him either.
In scenes airing on Tuesday (May 12), Cain exaggerates his pain in a bid to stay in hospital longer, insisting he isn’t ready to leave.
Eventually, Sarah manages to get through to him and Cain reluctantly agrees to go home. But once he returns, he finds the adjustment every bit as difficult as he feared, and his mood sinks even further.
The truth revealed
Things become even more tense after a visit from Robert and Aaron, with Cain immediately sensing that something is off.
Once they leave, Cain pressures Moira to tell him the truth, convinced she’s hiding something.
Cornered, Moira finally admits that Robert planted the fake ID documents that led to her going to prison.
Cain is left furious and instantly starts talking about revenge, even as Moira begs him to focus on recovering and put his health first.

But Cain Dingle has never been the type to back down quietly.
Before long, he ropes Sam into helping with a dangerous revenge plan.
The next day, Robert is knocked unconscious in one of the barns by Sam. When he wakes up, he finds himself tied to a chair with Cain standing over him holding a hammer.
Cain makes it clear that Robert is going to pay for everything he has done.
The big question is whether Cain is physically or emotionally strong enough to go through with it, or whether this latest betrayal has pushed him too far while he is already fighting so many battles of his own.
