With the Survivor 50 finale now just one week away, the game is suddenly down to its final stretches — and after another brutal double elimination, only one pre-new era player is still standing.

Episode 12 of Survivor 50 once again left fans glued to their screens. After Rick Devens was sent packing early, a second Tribal Council set up a dramatic face-off between two iconic women: Aubry Bracco and Cirie Fields.
Aubry spent much of the back half of the episode working to assemble the numbers needed to blindside Cirie. Meanwhile, Cirie was busy planting doubt with her allies, making it clear that Aubry’s words and moves couldn’t be trusted. By the time Tribal Council arrived, it was obvious the last two pre-new era players were headed for a direct collision. The only question was: would it be Aubry or Cirie?

Then, in a surprisingly emotional moment, both women entered the voting booth and shared nothing but kind words for each other. Aubry, visibly emotional, called Cirie the “best Survivor player of all time” after casting her vote. She added, “You’re better than Sandra [Diaz-Twine], you’re better than Tony [Vlachos] and I am so honored to call you a friend.”
Cirie responded in the same spirit. After writing Aubry’s name down, she looked into the camera and said, “The next time we meet in a jungle or on an island, hopefully we’re, like, on vacation. We can’t keep meeting this way. I love you.” It was a genuinely sweet moment — and one that makes it impossible not to hope for a post-finale vacation photo of the two together.
Still, the friendship did not change the outcome. Just as Aubry once found a crucial path to safety in Survivor: Game Changers when Cirie was eliminated with zero votes, she once again positioned herself on the right side of the numbers. This time, that social game sent Cirie to the jury in a 4-2 vote.

Now that Aubry is the last remaining non-new era player, the game appears to be hers to lose. As she has said over the last several episodes, if she can reach the end with the right people beside her — likely Joe Hunter and Jonathan Young, though she also floated Rizo Velovic’s name — she could finally claim the win her four-time gameplay seems to deserve.
I’ve been rooting for Aubry since the cast was announced nearly a year ago. But has she done enough to make it to the end of next week’s finale of Survivor 50? We’ll find out soon — though definitely not soon enough — when the live finale airs Wednesday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
