Emmerdale has finally pulled back the curtain on what Kammy Hadiq has been hiding — and the truth is more dramatic than many viewers expected. Tonight, fans learned that Kammy has secretly been homeless for weeks. He did eventually confide in Vinny, but it is now obvious there is still far more to this story than anyone in the village realises.
The mechanic is also right in the middle of the Emmerdale Farm fire mystery, and the evidence building against him is looking increasingly serious. Yet if Kammy truly hasn’t done anything wrong, why is he still keeping Belle in the dark?
Emmerdale confirms Kammy has been living in the barn
Viewers saw on Tuesday night (May 26) that Kammy has been sleeping in the barn, getting by with little more than a camping stove and a tin of beans while doing everything he can to keep his situation hidden.
What made things worse was his determination to keep Belle from finding out. When she asked about meeting his family, he shut the conversation down immediately and reacted far more sharply than she expected.
Belle was later left so uneasy that she nearly searched through his phone for answers. She felt guilty even thinking about it, but his behaviour simply wasn’t matching the picture he had been trying to present.
In Wednesday’s episode (May 27), Belle admitted what she had nearly done, and Kammy reassured her there was nothing to worry about. He insisted he was telling the truth.
Except he clearly wasn’t.
Robert and Aaron caught Kammy with petrol and a lighter
As Robert kept digging for the person behind the fires, his attention first shifted to Mackenzie.
Mack hit back angrily at the accusation, while Aaron stepped in and told Robert to stop pushing.
But the situation exploded when Matty phoned to say he had spotted someone behaving suspiciously in one of the fields. Robert and Aaron rushed over — and were stunned to find Kammy holding a petrol can and a lighter.
Kammy was horrified when they accused him outright of being the arsonist. He insisted it was all a terrible misunderstanding, but Robert only became more intense before Aaron stepped in to calm things down.
With pressure mounting and tempers flaring, Kammy fled.
Kammy admitted the truth to Vinny — but still shut Belle out
Later, Aaron went to Belle and told her what Robert and Aaron believed Kammy had been planning. The accusation left Belle devastated, and she turned to Vinny for support.
But Vinny was already with Kammy, who finally confessed the truth.
Kammy revealed that he had lost his flat after falling behind on bills and maxing out his credit cards. He also admitted he had planned to set fire to his own car as part of an insurance scam because he was desperate for money.
Yet when Belle arrived searching for answers, Kammy still could not bring himself to tell her what was really going on.
Despite Vinny trying to explain that there was clearly more to the situation, Kammy stayed silent. Belle took that silence as confirmation of her worst fears.
Heartbroken, Belle ended their relationship for a second time and left in tears while Kammy refused to speak.
Emmerdale star teases bigger twists still to come for Kammy
Thursday’s episode will see Kammy arrested over the fires, but will being taken in by police finally force him to reveal everything?
Shebz Miah, who plays Kammy, has already teased that the storyline is far from over. Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he hinted that the chaos is only just starting to build.
“I think from when I first came in to now, it’s been a slow burner.
“But I think we are starting to learn more about Kammy and see that there is more to him than this cheekiness that he’s got and this bravado that he puts on.”
He added: “The mask comes off, and we get to see this different version of what we’ve seen so far.
“Uncomfortable at times, but at the end of the day, he’s human, and there’s only so long you can keep the bravado for.
“But yeah, fans won’t expect it, and it will snowball into other things as well, but we start to see why and where it all came from.”
With Kammy still hiding so much from Belle and the rest of the village, it looks like the biggest revelations are still to come.
