Shocking Reality TV Twist: Wendell Holland is heading to Season 2 of NBC’s Destination X
The Survivor: Ghost Island winner will compete against 12 other hopefuls for a chance at $250,000.
This Destination X announcement is turning heads fast, because the former Survivor champion is stepping back into another high-pressure competition where strategy, stamina, and nerve could make all the difference.

The second season of NBC’s globe-trotting reality competition is already raising the stakes, and one of the biggest names in the lineup is Wendell Holland, the winner of Survivor: Ghost Island. With six reality competition stars joining the cast, this season is shaping up like a full-on showdown for viewers who love a true fan-versus-favorite battle.
Wendell will be thrown into the mix alongside former The Traitors and Big Brother players, plus familiar faces from Love Island and the Below Deck franchise, as well as seven brand-new contestants. That means he’ll need to outthink, outmaneuver, and outlast a packed field as the game expands far beyond the beaches of Fiji.
Hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, best known to many for his role in the The Walking Dead universe, the 13 strangers will travel across Europe without knowing exactly where they are. Their mission sounds simple enough: figure out their location better than everyone else. But the challenge gets far more intense when they’re forced to live together in the blacked-out Destination X bus, where tension, alliances, and betrayals can build quickly.
At the end of it all, the first contestant to reach the real Destination X takes home a $250,000 prize. For everyone else, the journey could end in frustration, blindsides, or a brutal misstep at the wrong moment.
Can Wendell really win Destination X?
On paper, Wendell looks like one of the smartest picks in the cast. He’s strategic, socially sharp, and knows how to perform under pressure, all of which could give him a major edge in a game built on observation, problem-solving, and tough challenges. Still, there’s a strong argument that he should keep close to some of the Below Deck personalities, since they spend their lives navigating the world and may be especially good at reading their surroundings.
Wendell’s Survivor background should also serve him well. After winning Survivor: Ghost Island, he returned for the milestone season Survivor: Winners at War, where he made it to the merge before becoming such a threat that he was voted out in 13th place. He then fought on the Edge of Extinction and came close to earning his way back into the game, but ultimately landed on the jury.

Because Destination X has a similar style of gameplay — living in unfamiliar conditions, relying on sharp observation, problem-solving, and demanding challenges — Wendell may actually have one of the strongest résumés among the returning reality stars. Even so, this kind of competition has a way of catching even the best players off guard, and a surprise twist could still flip everything upside down.
The series is currently in post-production after filming wrapped, and while NBC has not announced an official premiere date yet, it is expected to arrive sometime in the fall or winter based on the usual rollout for competition shows.
