Coronation Street reveals Nick’s risky decision as Sam panics over trial
Shock move in Coronation Street: Nick’s risky lie could blow up as Sam spirals over the trial

He says it’s the only way to protect his son — but the truth may come at a devastating cost.
The tension ramps up next week in Coronation Street as Nick Tilsley is pushed into a painful corner — and his solution is to lie to his son Sam Blakeman in an effort to shield his son’s fragile mental wellbeing.

Even though Sam is currently safe and receiving care in a professional facility, he is still consumed by fear over Megan Walsh’s trial for grooming schoolboy Will Driscoll. His biggest worry? That Megan could somehow escape justice.

Sam becomes convinced that if the worst happens and Megan walks free, she will come after him. Watching his son grow more distressed by the second, Nick decides he has to do something — and that is when he makes the dangerous choice to tell a lie.
“Megan’s trial is full of complexities and complications, but Nick’s job is very simple – he needs to protect Sam’s mental health,” explains our Corrie informant.
“Faced with a choice of giving him the full story about what’s transpiring in court, Nick decides to lie that everything has gone to plan. In his mind, this is the only way to prevent Sam from spiralling.”
It is hard to blame Nick for trying to spare Sam from more pain. But after everything Sam has already endured, the decision could have far-reaching consequences.
Following his psychosis, and after Nick previously bent the truth to gain his son’s trust before taking him to the facility, Sam is in a particularly vulnerable position. He has already been left questioning what is real and what isn’t.

During his hallucinations, an imaginary Roy Cropper was feeding him misleading ideas about what was happening — and even trying to push him toward harming Will. That makes honesty even more important now that Sam is trying to recover and rebuild trust in the people around him.
“He’s done this for all the right reasons, but Nick might live to regret not being honest with Sam,” says our source. “For too long, Sam hasn’t felt able to be honest with the people who love him. Let’s hope Nick’s decision doesn’t damage the trust between them…”
