General Hospital (GH) spoilers note that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) shockingly passed away during the Wednesday, October 30 episode of the soap.

It wasn’t shocking that she met her demise, as fans were expecting it; however, the “how” was surprising as she had just come out of a successful transplant surgery, with everyone expecting her to make a smooth and easy recovery.

In fact, right before doctors rushed into her room, she was laughing and celebrating with her mom, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn). Sam had just shared the news that Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) had proposed.

Things were looking very good for Sam, and then at the drop of a hat, she was gone.

During a conversation Alexis had with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) in the hospital’s waiting area, the mom noted that one moment Sam had a glow about her and then her face turned pale.

Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) rushed into Sam’s room to help Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) revive her.

While heart shocking and chest compressions were made in abundance, Lucas reluctantly declared Sam’s passing at 5:48 p.m., after 30 minutes of trying.

In recent weeks, a leak on the social media platform X revealed that Sam would meet her demise thanks to an IV poisoning at the hands of Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).

This was all supposed to happen after Sam’s transplant surgery.

He’s been lingering around the hospital a lot lately, and Lulu Spencer’s (Alexa Havins) recent ventilator malfunction seems to scream that Cyrus is behind this.

He’s a wildcard on every level, and while he’s ‘found God’, it’s believable that could be behind Lulu’s ventilator issue and Sam’s passing.

Still, what if GH has decided to change the cause of Sam’s passing in light of the social media leak?

As yesterday’s show was Halloween in Port Charles, Alexis brought Sam some candy treats.

The two ladies also talked about ensuring Dante has enough candy to hand out to the kids in the neighborhood, and Alexis assured Sam that she also bought some boxes, so they were good.

When Alexis handed over the candy, she told Sam she “snuck it past” the nurses.

It’s likely that Sam wasn’t allowed any sugar or possibly any food or beverages for whatever reason after her surgery.

Alexis also mentioned to Jason that the two were snacking on candy treats, so this could be a clue that the soap is going in this direction.

Could the candy have been the very thing that sent Sam’s system into shock?

The GH preview for Thursday’s show reveals a very irate Alexis, yelling at Sam’s doctor and brother, Lucas, so this also could be a hint that she might be the reason for her daughter’s passing, which would be an interesting plot twist.

General Hospital spoilers suggest the next few weeks in Port Charles are sure to be very emotional as characters struggle to figure out what happened to Sam, as they also mourn the passing of a daughter, mother, friend, and loved one.
