We’re going to file this under news that we wish we never had to report, but Days of Our Lives alum Casey Deidrick was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and interfering with an emergency call, per TMZ. Deidrick, as longtime fans of the Peacock soap know, originated the role of Chad DiMera in 2009, playing the 16-year-old high school student back when he was known as Chad Peterson.

Deidrick played the role until leaving in 2013, ushering Chad through some pretty big moments, from learning that he was one of Stefano’s sons, to falling in love with Abigail (played at the time by General Hospital‘s Kristina, Kate Mansi) for the first time. Chad left town after getting caught faking a brain tumor, and when he returned a year later, Billy Flynn had taken over the role.

After leaving the soap, Deidrick went on to do a number of TV shows, including Glee and Teen Wolf, and movies. More recently, he’s even appeared in a few Hallmark films. On Sunday, though, TMZ reports, the actor was arrested after an altercation with his girlfriend allegedly culminated in putting her in a bear hug and snatching her phone away from her.

Deidrick’s girlfriend claims she then demanded the phone back as she feared for her safety, and he finally returned it after allegedly demanding she move out. The incident happened in Tennessee, where the actor was released on bail after his arrest.

So far, TMZ reports, Deidrick’s reps haven’t released any statement on the incident
