Boy, did I luck into a good week to fill in for Candi on the Bold & Beautiful Soapbox column. Finn told Luna he’s her father, Hope caught Daphne kissing Carter, and holy crap! A whole slew of villains was turned loose. Grab a bottle of Forrester brand artisanal spring water, and let’s discuss.
Taylor Went Ballistic
The first bad guy we encountered this week was Taylor, who upon learning of Finn and Luna’s relation made it clear to Steffy that she blamed him for “putting [his wife] in this position.” Yes, even though he didn’t know Steffy back when he was a teenager losing his virginity to his aunt, didn’t know that Luna was his child until recently and couldn’t have predicted that she would become a homicidal maniac even if he had been clued in decades ago.
In Taylor’s mind, there was only one course of action for Steffy: Leave Finn at once. Despite the fact that, so far as they knew then, Luna was in prison whereas Sheila is roaming around free as a bird, a family tie to Tom and Hollis’ incarcerated killer was the shrink’s breaking point. Mmkay.
Oh, and don’t even suggest to the world-renowned psychiatrist that perhaps Luna could be redeemed. “It won’t work,” said the woman who once shot Bill in the back and left him for dead. Taylor didn’t have to so much as sit down with Luna to ascertain that the nature of her mental illness made her a hopeless case.
Needless to say, Ridge only made matters worse. “Luna’s a psycho,” said the sensitive soul who slept with Brooke when she was his stepmother, raped her, made out with Quinn when she was his stepmother and let a pinecone decide his romantic future. Yeah, Ridge is absolutely a portrait of stability.

BTW, was I the only one who laughed when Taylor referred to Sheila as “the mother-in-law from hell” when at that very moment she was earning that title from Finn (even though he didn’t know it). Taylor was so strident, she even had formidable Steffy cowed! Speaking of Steffy…
Steffy and Luna Became Judges
Poor Poppy took a beating, thanks to Steffy and Luna, who painted her as a cross between Mary Kay Letourneau and the kind of mother who’d eat her young if she got the mildest case of the munchies. I get that emotions were running high, but Steffy and Luna came off as more villainous than Poppy ever has. She and Finn are “not blood-related, but it’s still sick,” said Steffy, who married both of Bill’s sons, tried to break up the older man’s marriage to Katie, had an affair with stepbrother Rick and cheated on Finn after Liam saw Thomas kiss a mannequin. Maybe turn down the vitriol a smidgen, eh, Steff?
And Luna… OK, Ridge was right for once: She is a psycho. The kid who murdered two people and was going to do the same to her “cousin’s” wife — and framed her mother for her crimes! — had the nerve to badmouth Poppy. “That’s all she knows, just lies, lies, lies!” Yeah? Well, Poppy’s body count is zero, Luna, so you can take a seat. In fact, take all the seats, especially after originally insisting that you’d had an unorthodox but perfectly lovely childhood.
Hope Pulled a Liam
The last of the villains that Bold & Beautiful turned loose on L.A. this week was Hope. And you’d think it would be hard if not impossible for her to be unsympathetic after catching boo Carter locking lips with Daphne. But Hope was kinda… what’s the word for it? Vile, that’s it. She did to Carter exactly what Liam did to her after he saw her smooch with Thomas in Rome. She hadn’t liked the nasty little game her then-husband had played with her, yet she replayed it on Carter.
More: Is Daphne saying au revoir?
Unlike Steffy, who listened when Finn explained back when that he hadn’t initiated Hope’s kiss, Hope remained determinedly in her rage spiral. And on one hand, it makes sense that she’d have trust issues. But on the other, shouldn’t she, of all people, be more understanding of how messy relationships can be? She was married to Liam the Human Waffle, for Pete’s sake — more than once. And having so recently felt the brunt of Steffy’s judginess, wouldn’t Hope want to do better?
