It was a bit of a bizarre week on General Hospital, with the anniversary episode coming across as a stand-alone piece, something that happened in its own little bubble. A good portion of the week focused on the outcome of Kristina’s brake tampering and a secret from Emma’s past. Oh, and Joss is an official WSB Agent! Yay
About that Anniversary Episode
I figured I’d start with the obvious: that bizarre episode that honored the show’s anniversary and Monica’s character by debuting the Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Unit. It existed in a separate time-space continuum and it was almost as if we were supposed to ask ourselves after it was over, “Was that real? Did that really happen?” How do you have a hospital-wide celebration while your head nurse is laid up, Emma’s in jail, and Ric’s in the middle of brain surgery?
Even worse, the only flashbacks we got were of Lucy’s dresses as she announced that, yes, in fact, we are getting a Nurses Ball in 2025. Hopefully, my wishes for Drew to be exposed during the Nurses Ball will come true! Also, the one other takeaway from this episode was that when Sonny ignores his heart issue for too long, it finally gives out on him as we expect; fortunately, he’s got a nice state-of-the-art cardiac care center he paid for to fix him up!

Is Kristina Headed to Pentonville?
Kristina’s done it this time! Many viewers initially questioned why Lucky was covering for Kristina when Elizabeth was injured due to her cutting Ric’s brakes. Initially, at the scene, neither Kristina nor Lucky seemed aware Liz was also in the car, so I think that’s why.
Both Liz and Ric survived, and no one woke up with amnesia nor thought they were in love with someone they were not. That’s at least one positive! The event also sets up Lucky to likely spend a lot of time playing nurse to Liz.

Friday’s episode left us with some good cliffhangers. Ava found out Ric’s brakes were cut, Ric recalled seeing Kristina at the accident scene, and Lucky finally tore into Kristina for what she’d done. Next week’s teases even have Lucky telling Kristina maybe she should pay for what she’s done.
Will Kristina go to jail? She damn well should, but with Sonny’s money and power, she likely won’t. I took a wild guess last week and suggested Ava would get a big payday out of Sonny in exchange for not turning Kristina in to the police. I still see it could go that way.
Other Storyline Ponderings
It was great seeing Drew’s face when he found out that not only was the Quartermaine crypt still standing, but he could no longer use the Quartermaine name — and it was all thanks to Monica!
One thing that came out of crypt-gate was the discovery that Emma has priors, one of which was so bad that the records were sealed, and she had to sign an NDA to stay out of jail. It involved a previous protest against Berkley’s use of animals in lab testing, and Emma must have come across something huge. My first thought about Emma’s sealed record was, “Please don’t tell me she’s another WSB secret agent, too. What is this, General Hospital or Charlie’s Angels?” This twist has given a much more darker edge to Emma’s character.

A lot of viewers found it ridiculous that Joss could become a certified WSB agent in less time than it would take her to graduate college. Obviously, she attended Sally Struthers’ WSB Agent School, where you, too, can become a world-class spy in just four weeks! Maybe the fast-track training program is why all the WSB agents seem exceptionally bad at their jobs.
Finally, we knew Marco was Natalia’s son, so it wasn’t much of a surprise that Jenz turned out to be his father. However, all we knew about the son previously was that his name was initially Eloi, and he was a talented musician who gave up music because of his pushy mother. Is this, according to Sidwell, how Natalia destroyed their family? By being a stage mom? Did it result in Eloi choosing to use his first or middle name, Marco? Or is he a separate child entirely? He sure didn’t expect to see his mom in town, indicating they aren’t close. Did Natalia blow up their family over the fact that Marco is gay? That would track, given her record.
