Drake Hogestyn Was Alive But On Medical Leave Of Absence When The Current Episodes Were Filmed

The late Drake Hogestyn was still alive, although on medical leave of absence when the current episodes were filmed. His last in person appearance took place several months ago in a scene with Tate Black (Leo Howard).

At the point when Drake knew he wouldn’t return to filming, he approved the storyline of how his iconic character John Black would die on the show.

DOOL has been filming nine months ahead instead of the former six months, and it’s the beginning of John Black’s exit that we are seeing now. In the episodes of March 31 and April 1, 2025, we can see several clues of how this might ultimately play out.

Of Course, Orpheus Is Involved!

Of course, Orpheus aka Milo Harp (George DelHoyo) is involved-he’s been the enemy of John, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) for years.

Going back to when Marlena and the real Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) were married, and long before John was The Pawn and was thought to be Roman, is when it started.

Milo was Roman’s ISA partner and his wife and mother of his two small children was accidentally killed when she entered a camp, and Roman reacted.

But Milo, soon to become Orpheus, carried his vendetta against Roman to John, and kidnapped Marlena to care for his tots, and his vendetta for his wife’s death lived on. And now, Orpheus has managed to steal a nuclear bomb, to be sold to the highest bidder!

John Infiltrated The Compound Against ISA’s Orders

John infiltrated the compound against ISA’s orders but considering he probably knew Orpheus was involved, he knew he had to act fast. More than likely, he knew if he didn’t neutralize the situation, and quickly, the world as we know it could very well be at stake.

Now, John and the device were taken and the nuclear scientist,  Dr. Karl Pilkington (Allan Wayne Anderson) told Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Marlena gave them that information before dying.

Chances are, John’s death will come as a result of somehow snatching the device, which may already be on a countdown timer, possibly jumping into a body of water with it.

This would be similar to the third prism being thrown into the ocean to save the world-and John will be a hero, saving the world!
