Mr. Shin meets with Xander at the Kiriakis mansion. Xander explains he and Philip believe it’s the perfect time to move on DiMera thanks to EJ’s shooting and other legal woes. Xander shows him the article in The Spectator, and Shin learns EJ is in a medically induced coma. Xander adds that his wife, the doctor, says the situation is very dire. Shin says if EJ remains in this coma or worse, he can’t think what it will do to their share prices.
Xander has a solution. Mr. Shin can vote EJ’s votes by proxy and call for a no vote of confidence in Kristen. He can then have himself placed as temporary CEO and take advantage of a lucrative offer from Titan. Suddenly, their hostile takeover isn’t so hostile. Shin says he’s overlooked Kristen, who still holds the majority of voting stocks.

At Gabi Chic, Gabi reads an article on EJ. Melinda arrives, and they discuss the news and who shot him. Gabi says Kristen is trying to blame her for shooting EJ over what he did to Rafe. She says she pointed out to Kristen that she had a good reason to shoot him herself.
Kristen’s Got a Gun
At the DiMera mansion, JJ and Shawn tell Kristen they have a warrant to search her bedroom and her belongings, including the bag she’s carrying. She allows them to look, and JJ pulls out a gun and asks if she can explain it.
When she won’t answer their questions, Shawn takes Kristen off for questioning as JJ plans to search her room. However, he recalls finding Gabi in the living room holding a gun on EJ, demanding answers about where Rafe was. JJ heads upstairs to Kristen’s room.
Later, Shawn and JJ bring Kristen into the station. Nothing was found in her room, but CSI is still going over the scene, so they have questions about her gun. Where did she get it, and did she use it to shoot EJ? She won’t answer their questions. JJ points out how she had just reunited with her long-dead mother, only for her to fall off the face of the earth again. That worked out for EJ. They suspect EJ disappeared Rachel and angered Kristen to the point that she may have shot him.
Kristen laughs that if she did shoot him, which she didn’t, she wouldn’t tell them. She says she won’t answer any questions until a lawyer is present.

Back at Gabi Chic, Kristen calls Melinda and orders her to drop what she’s doing and come to the station. Melina says she’ll be right there and informs Gabi that Kristen is at the station being questioned about EJ’s shooting.
Melinda leaves, and Gabi calls her brother to pause a meeting with a client as Kristen was supposed to sit it on it, but she is being questioned for EJ’s shooting. Gabi then flashes back to standing outside the DiMera living room windows the night before and watching EJ pour himself a drink.
Trask shows up at the station, and JJ and Shawn ask why her client has been brought in. The cops tell her they found a gun on her, but they don’t have proof yet that it was used to shoot EJ. Trask goes in to see her client and Shawn and JJ realize they need to match the bullet to Kristen’s gun. However, the bullet hasn’t been entered into evidence yet. Shawn checks with forensics, and it turns out the bullet never made it to the station and could still be at the hospital.
Trask meets with Kristen in the interrogation room. Kristen calls this a disaster as the company stock is already in a freefall. Melinda says she has more pressing problems like that gun, so why did she have it? Kristen admits the gun is her mother’s, a family heirloom she caught her with, so he confiscated it from her. She was going to get rid of it but hadn’t yet. Melinda asks if she used it to shoot her brother. She tells Kristen she doesn’t have to answer that, and Kristen knows that. She knows Melinda can’t defend her if she knows she’s guilty, and she’ll never know if she is or isn’t.

EJ Gets Visitors
At the hospital, Philip speaks with Kayla and asks how long EJ is expected to be in a coma. Kayla reminds him that she can’t discuss EJ’s condition with anyone but his immediate family. Philip brings up the article out on EJ indicating he’s in a medically induced coma, it’s public knowledge, so he sees no harm in sharing how long he’s expected to be out. Kayla wonders why he’s so concerned about EJ’s condition. He claims he’s just worried about a fellow prominent citizen.
Kayla informs Philip that she knows Stephanie ended things with him because she was concerned about his underhanded business tactics. EJ’s medical status clearly would affect his own business decisions. Kayla excuses herself to see other patients.

Belle enters EJ’s room, where he remains unconscious. She sits by him and takes his hand. She kisses it and can’t believe what has happened. EJ wakes up and says, “As if you care!” She is shocked, but he tells her not to call for the doctor, as this is all in her imagination. He asks again if she really cares about him. She insists she does and wouldn’t wish what happened to him on anyone. He is unsure, given she wore a wire and tried to entrap him for his wrongdoings, and yet here she is crying at his bedside. Could she love him after all?
Belle asks why he’d think she loves him. He recalls calling her out, saying he was in her head, her heart, and her soul. What is that, if not love? What more does he have to do to convince her? She finally says, “Yes, dammit, I love you!” He asks if that was so hard.
Kayla enters the room, and EJ is still in his coma. She’s surprised to see Belle here, but since EJ hasn’t had any visitors, she’ll let her stay. Having people talk to EJ can help. Belle hopes he recovers, as does Kayla, who also hopes they find out who did this to him. Kayla changes the subject to Belle’s dad, and she’s sure Steve will bring John home safe and sound. Kayla gets a page from JJ, who needs to speak to her, so Kayla exits.
Kayla meets with Shawn and JJ in the halls, and it turns out the bullet they are looking for was in a post-op room, and nobody collected it. The men decide to rush it to ballistics to see if it matches Kristen’s gun.
Belle continues to sit with EJ. She says, “God help me, yes, I love you.” At that exact moment, Sami opens the door to the room and overhears her sister. Sami bursts in and says, “Hello, Belle, isn’t that sweet!”
Philip and Xander Take Control
Philip returns home, where Xander and Shin are still discussing Kristen. He tells them while he has no information about EJ’s condition, Kristen has been brought in for questioning in EJ’s shooting, and it’s already hit the news. Xander says the CEO of DiMera being questioned for murder has to help their cause. Shin agrees, and they don’t have a minute to waste. Shin says if he calls for a vote now, he can vote in proxy for both EJ and Kristen, but they have to do this while Kristen is in custody. The men begin dialing the board members for a conference call.
Back at Gabi Chic, Gabi is still recalling the night before. She’s spying on EJ from outside the DiMera living room and goes to open the patio doors. That’s when Xander and Philip arrive and snap Gabi out of her spell. She asks what they are doing in her office. Philip notes, “You mean our office.” Xander tells her, “All of this belongs to us now.”
