There’s no such thing as a coincidence on Bold & Beautiful, so when Sheila decided she’d had enough of Steffy on the same day Finn’s wife saved her ex-husband’s life, we knew there had to be a connection. Keep reading to find out how Liam’s health crisis could play right into Sheila’s plans to deal with her Steffy problem.

As Steffy sat at Liam’s hospital bedside explaining to him how close to death he came, Sheila was across town telling her newfound granddaughter, Luna, that she could no longer allow Finn’s wife to interfere with their “growing” family. It’s a chilling statement coming from the supposedly reformed psychopath, and a clear signal that she’ll be on the lookout for a means of dealing with her daughter-in-law.

Although Steffy was emotionally distressed by Liam nearly dying, and didn’t respond to Finn’s texts during the emergency, she insisted on calling him to the ICU to bring him into the loop shortly thereafter. Steffy put Finn over Liam, who had asked her not to tell anyone he was hospitalized, so what might have been an opportunity for Sheila to drive a wedge between her son and his wife by suggesting that Steffy is more loyal to her ex, failed to materialize. But that doesn’t mean she can’t make this work to her advantage in the future.

At this point, Liam has suffered multiple concussions and traumas to the head. Presumably, his recovery will be complicated and he’ll have to be under constant supervision. There are a couple of ways this scenario could play into Sheila’s diabolical hands.

The first possibility is that Liam will have to go into a facility someone other than Los Angeles. Steffy would obviously volunteer to go with him and help him settle in, and Finn would undoubtedly have no qualms about it. But what if she doesn’t come home? If Sheila intercepts Steffy on her way back to Los Angeles from the facility and makes her disappear, Finn will assume that his wife chose to stay by Liam’s side, thus giving Sheila and Luna an opening with the heartbroken doctor.

The second possibility is that Liam will go to stay with Finn and Steffy at the cliff house while he recovers, thus giving Sheila an opportunity to deceive her son into believing that Steffy and Liam are having an affair under his nose while he’s at work. After Finn accuses his wife of infidelity, she’ll gather up the kids and take off overseas to lick her wounds.

Either of these scenarios would accomplish the same thing: Getting Steffy out of the way to give Sheila and Luna the opening they need to get close to Finn, and providing a plot twist that explains Steffy’s absence given that Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is due to take maternity leave in the not-too-distant future.
