Days of our Lives star Carson Boatman teased what’s next for Johnny.

Days of our Lives Johnny and EJ

Days of our Lives fans will finally find out who shot EJ DiMera. They also witnessed the trial from hell, and Johnny learning how he was conceived. Carson Boatman discussed what’s next for Johnny and whether the father-and-son duo will be able to move beyond EJ’s dark past.

Shocking Truth

It’s been a difficult road for Johnny (Carson Boatman). He found out his origin story. Then he was put on trial for shooting his father, where EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) defended Johnny. He’s been trying to clear his son’s name. Now, Chanel (Raven Bowens) has taken the stand to get Johnny off the hook.

Johnny wants his father to be gentle with his daughter-in-law, Chanel, even though Chanel has never been easy with EJ. As DAYS fans already know, EJ and Johnny’s relationship has been far from perfect, as well. In an interview with Woman’s World, Boatman reflected on this dynamic. “EJ basically set up Johnny’s wife to take the fall for the attempted murder. That’s a pretty crazy limb to go out on, right?” Boatman remarked.

Will the two ever reconcile despite EJ’s dark past? Boatman believes that it’s possible. “No matter how tumultuous the relationship may be, there’s something about a father and a son. Deep down, you always want that relationship and connection—even if you hate him and can’t forgive him for all the despicable things he’s done,” he teased.

Another Scandal Will Rock Salem

Later in the interview, Boatman teased about Johnny’s future. He immediately “gets thrown into another scandal.” Once he’s cleared of shooting his father, he will be tossed into another storyline. “Johnny gets thrown right into another scandal. How’s it going to be any fun to watch if characters are having nice lives? You need a scandal!” Boatman said.

While these storylines are tough, the DAYS actor admitted he’s been having a lot of “fun” playing Johnny. He wouldn’t choose another role. “I love when you have heavy weeks of a bunch of episodes, because it’s fun to come in and challenge yourself and see everybody. I love everybody here. I’m just so thankful,” he added.
