Days Of Our Lives: Stephen Schnetzer Talks Steve Olson’s Questionable Motives on DAYS
Days of Our Lives is hitting a colossal milestone! The Peacock soap celebrates its monumental 15,000th episode by bringing a silver fox back to the fold! Mark your calendars for December 2 because our favorite, Stephen Schnetzer, is reprising his role as Steve Olson. It’s nothing short of a feel-good twist because Stephen has been away for over four decades. What’s cooking this time around in Salem?
Days of Our Lives: Steve Olson Returns to DAYS
Steve’s Days of Our Lives return comes on the heels of a tragedy that has moved everyone to tears. He’s back to stand by his sister, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) as Salem mourns her late husband, Doug Williams. The legendary character brought to life by the iconic Bill Hayes drew his last breath on Thanksgiving Day.
Additionally, the breakthrough episode will pay a heartwarming homage to both Doug and Bill. The actor became a defining element of the show’s history before his passing earlier this year at the age of 98. But don’t let the emotional moments mask what’s really happening. Steve is not here to just lend a shoulder to his crushed sister.
Schnetzer, who’s back for a two-episode run, reflected on his DAYS history in a chat with TV Insider. “Steve was a charming rogue, a schmoozer, a charmer, a manipulator,” the actor shared. Moreover, Stephen described his character’s dynamic with Julie as “sweet” and full of heart. Plus, he’s happy to share screen with Susan after so long.

Schnetzer Hints at Trouble Ahead
Interestingly, the DAYS veteran’s short stint might leave viewers questioning Steve’s motives. However, he shared without revealing much, “Julie will remain steadfast in her feelings about his integrity.” But the question remains: How did Steve manage to sneak back into Salem in the first place?
Stephen’s Steve Olson first appeared on the ex-NBC soap in 1978 and stayed until 1980. Furthermore, the daytime drama legend grabbed eyeballs for his role in One Life. And let’s not forget his supreme portrayal of Cass Winthrop on Another World. Schnetzer’s soap career has been nothing but iconic.
As for a more extended storyline, Schnetzer is game for that. He revealed, “A 3-to-6-month story would be much fun, and I definitely would do that.” Meanwhile, keep checking out Soap Opera Daily for more updates on the Days of Our Lives star.
