Six years ago, something unexpected and magical happened on Days of Our Lives. Bad boy Xander stole the good doctor Sarah’s muffin. No, that’s not a euphemism. He quite literally swiped her muffin and ate it. Xander thought he was flirting, Sarah was just annoyed, but the sparks that started flying back then just kept growing more intense, and now Xander and Sarah are married for the second time and raising their daughter Victoria together.

Paul Telfer and Linsey Godfrey celebrated the milestone with a hilarious, real-life recreation of that scene that culminated in Sarah’s portrayer declaring, “Six years of that… You owe me a muffin!” Check it out below (along with that fateful first scene) and celebrate while you can.

Because the way things are going right now, we aren’t sure they’ll survive another six years!

As delightful as Telfer and Godfrey are onscreen and off, we’ve got plenty of reason to worry that their characters are racing towards the end. And this time, it wouldn’t be Xander’s fault… but Sarah’s!

Sarah’s ended things between the two of them before — a number of times, in fact — but that was almost always in reaction to what horrible lie/secret/thing Xander had done. There was that time she cheated on him with Rex, but hey, no one’s perfect. She’d finally made peace that Xander was always going to be Xander (Perhaps a bit too much peace as she didn’t even blink when he tried to murder Philip) and it had seemed like just about nothing could stop them now.

But now, the shoe’s on the other foot. Sarah is the one keeping secrets, and it’s a doozy: Philip’s claim to Titan is a lie and he’s got no business being co-CEO with his brother. Mark our words: This will come out. And when it does, Sarah may end up in worse shape than even Philip. Xander will be hurt and furious at his brother, sure, but it’s nothing he wouldn’t expect from him.

Sarah, though, seems to be keeping the secret because in the end, she doesn’t really trust her husband. First off, there’s her worry that he’ll respond to the truth by trying to kill Philip again. Then, there’s her feeling that Xander with unchecked power is too dangerous, so he needs someone to act as a roadblock for his worst tendencies — like Philip. When Xander finds out she’s been lying, covering for Philip and doesn’t really trust him, we’ve got a tough time seeing how he’ll be able to move past that. It’s going to hurt — a lot — and upend everything he thought he knew about Sarah.

Yes, there’s a part of Xander that may understand the keeping a secret to avoid hurting someone you love part of it. But that won’t make it easier. His love for Sarah has always made him want to be a better person, even if he doesn’t always succeed in it. This, though, could set him right back to square one — and blow up any chance ‘Xarah’ has for truly lasting happiness!!
