The Bold and the Beautiful is set to start its new filming era this month. Back in June, Deadline reported the soap would be saying au revoir to Television City after 38 years. The daytime series had been at the Los Angeles studio complex since its launch, but will now be charting new territory at Sunset Las Palmas Studios.
Their location shift is just 2.5 miles northeast from their previous studio, so they’re still in the heart of Hollywood. But we could be in for a vibe shift even if the sets themselves look pretty much the same. We won’t know until episodes filmed in August begin to air later this fall, but B&B star Don Diamont did take to Instagram to give fans a look at the soap’s new digs.
Don Diamont Shares B&B’s New Studio With Fans
Diamont showed off a theater marquee welcoming the B&B family to their new home on the first day of shooting. The warm reception is a part of the “world-class service” Sean Griffin, SVP of Sales for Sunset Studios and Quixote, told Deadline they would be providing “to ensure the entire cast and crew have an exceptional experience.”
Griffin went on to praise B&B for “[t]heir long-term re-commitment to Hollywood at this pivotal moment” as it’s “an important symbol for the industry.” Sunset Studios hopes the lead the soap has taken will inspire others to follow.
As Diamont pointed out in his post, the show’s new filming home is legendary. It was founded in 1919, and he’s not kidding about it feeling like going back in time on the lot. The likes of I Love Lucy and The Lone Ranger were filmed at the location, so it’s no wonder Diamont has deemed it a “pretty special place.”
He took time to get shots of the old Hollywood legends whose pictures have been hung throughout the lot. And, of course, he couldn’t leave fans without a picture of him on set. Diamont and Crew Morrow, who plays Bill’s son Will on B&B, snapped a picture in costume with their arms folded, mugging down at the camera. Looks like Bill could be paying his son a visit at Forrester Creations sometime down the line.
Diamont ended his photo dump with a picture of him picking up takeout from the iconic Formosa Cafe, which has been serving Hollywood darlings, starlets, and heartthrobs since 1939. It looks like he’s settling into B&B’s new era just fine.
