Emmerdale to resolve major Corriedale mystery – and it’s soon

Jai, Ray and the van…

Emmerdale clears up a Corriedale mystery next week, as we discover exactly how Ray Walters’ body ended up in the back of Jai Sharma’s van. The unfortunate turn of events has made Jai a key suspect in the ongoing whodunit plot, but is he just a victim of circumstance?

The recent Emmerdale and Coronation Street crossover event saw Jai driving to Manchester in a vehicle from Caleb Miligan’s depot, unaware that Ray’s corpse was hidden away in the back. The Corriedale crash drama ultimately forced Jai to abandon the journey, so he later returned to the village.

Ray’s body was finally found by the police earlier this week, before Jai had a chance to attempt the work trip again. DS Walsh and her team have since been piling the pressure on Jai, warning him that he’s under suspicion – either as the killer or a willing co-conspirator.

All is revealed next week, as a series of rewind episodes show how Ray died and what happened afterwards. Thursday’s visit to the village (22 January) shows who killed Ray, why they did it, and whether anyone else knows the secret.

Then in Friday’s episode (23 January), we see how the cover-up began. A final flashback shows how someone faced the grim reality of moving a corpse.

This person bundled Ray into the back of Jai’s van, but immediately regretted this choice when the vehicle was driven away by an oblivious Jai.

The latest spoiler appears to rule Jai out from being a suspect, since he had no idea Ray was in the back. But will the police ever believe his story?

Earlier this week, Walsh made it clear to Jai that his ex-wife Laurel Thomas is a key focus of the investigation. This is bad news for the businessman, as the police suspect he still holds a torch for Laurel and helped her to cover up Ray’s murder.

“We think Laurel Thomas may have been involved in the murder of Ray Walters,” Walsh told Jai this week. “And we’re wondering if you may have been a part of it too. If you were, you can both rest assured that we will find out.”
