Emmerdale’s Isobel Steele declares love for Liv Dingle in ‘ten year’ update

Isobel Steele played Liv Dingle for seven years in the ITV soap

Terry Junior is the son of Dawn and Terry Woods. He arrived in October 2003, but his start in life was far from straightforward. Dawn had contracted German measles while pregnant, raising fears TJ might be deaf. Thankfully, tests later confirmed that was not the case.

Drama followed almost immediately. While celebrating TJ’s birth, Terry suffered a stroke and collapsed. Once home from hospital, Dawn found herself caring for both a recovering husband and a newborn.

Things soon unravelled further when Dawn began an affair with her stepbrother Scott Windsor. When Terry discovered the betrayal, he threw her out and a bitter custody battle over TJ began.

Dawn planned to take TJ to Spain to see her mum Jean and warned Terry he would never see his son again. Terry alerted the police in a bid to stop her leaving the country. Despite the drama, Dawn was eventually granted sole custody.

Former Emmerdale actress Isobel Steele took to her Instagram as she remembered her character three years after Liv Dingle’s tragic exit.

Liv Flaherty (then Dingle) was first introduced when she asked Aaron and Robert Sugden for money at a park, unaware of their family connection. Later, she found out the truth that Gordon had abused Aaron repeatedly as a child.

After that, Liv became a regular character in the village and developed a close bond with both Aaron and Robert. She struggled with her sexuality before coming to the realisation that she was asexual.

In 2020, Liv struck up a relationship with Vinny Dingle. The couple eventually got married in 2022 but their happiness was short-lived when Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary rolled around.

During a storm, Liv became trapped between a mobile home and the shop. Although paramedics arrived, her injuries were too severe and she died after saying her tearful goodbyes to Aaron and Vinny.

In a video message for fans of Emmerdale following her tragic exit, Isobel said “I hope it made you cry. I definitely cried when I read it and it’s been a pleasure. It’s been the best seven years of my life.”

Recently, Liv was mentioned in the soap much to the joy of fans who have missed watching her on their screens in her three year absence.

Robert was in prison from 2019, but released earlier this year. While he and Aaron spoke about her briefly, as Robert helped Aaron return to the flat he once shared with killer husband John Sugden, Robert noticed Liv’s teddy lying around.

Aaron mentioned it would be the anniversary of her death the following day, and Robert declared that they should do something, so he can give her a “proper goodbye”.

Taking to her Instagram on Wednesday (February 25), Isobel posted an old snap of her posing alongside Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley as she reminisced on joining the soap ten years ago.

She penned: “10 years today since I joined @emmerdale So grateful to everyone there and everything I learnt! (red heart emoji) lots of luv”. The soap has been full of Liv memories ever since Robert returned, with him and Aaron often reminiscing.

Aside from her teddy lying around, when Robert was placed back in prison momentarily, it was then that he mentioned Liv, as he said: “When Liv died… I didn’t know what to do. I thought I was gonna be stuck in here for years.

“I was scared that if I let you back in, I was only going to make your pain even worse” after Aaron called him out for not contacting him after Liv died.

Robert continued: “I loved her, Aaron. We were a little family, she was like my little sister too. Do you remember when we went to Wales? Her marching up them hills” as he laughed with the memory.
