General Hospital News: Maurice Benard Fighting With The Writers About His Exit?

Of course, we are talking about actor Maurice Benard. He’s made it no secret that he’s definitely thinking about retirement as he wants to spend more time on the other projects that he has going on in his life and his family.

However, it seems like the writing team at General Hospital have different plans for his character, Sonny Corinthos.

Each time he gets a heart attack or it looks like things are nearing the end for Sonny, he manages to bounce back in one way or another.

But that might not be what Sonny wants in his life right now. After all, he has been on the show for more than four decades. The actor could certainly use a break.

Yet, at the same time a lot of people would agree that Port Charles just wouldn’t be the same without a legacy character like Sonny Corinthos. He’s been controlling the streets for so long, things just would turn into chaos without him.

General Hospital News: What’s Next For Sonny Corinthos In Port Charles?

And of course, giving the role of Sonny to another actor is just out of the question. It’s either Maurice who is going to be Port Charles’s ultimate mob boss or it’s going to be no one at all.

Then again, Maurice could always reduce his hours and play in a part-time storyline if it works out for him and the producers of the show, right? Here’s hoping they can figure something out that will benefit everyone, and the fans of the show, too.
