Donaldson was eliminated during Season 50’s Blood Moon twist — his fourth time playing the series — and left tribal council visibly emotional as he reflected on a game that began for him 25 years ago. He first rose to prominence as the runner-up of Season 2, and that early exposure has followed him ever since.
In an interview with TV Insider and Swooon, Donaldson said Survivor played a decisive role off-screen as well: it helped him “[carve] out a 20-year career in the television business.” That career, he explained, put him on a path that indirectly brought him into the orbit where he later met Britt Bailey.

After Donaldson’s elimination episode aired, Bailey gushed on her Instagram Story, “I couldn’t be more proud of him. Obviously we wished he could’ve lasted longer in the game, but it just wouldn’t have happened with that injury.” Donaldson hurt his foot earlier in the season and an infection had started to develop, leading to fears that he would be medically evacuated from the game. Before it got to that point, though, he was voted out.
