Shock Exit: American Pickers Calls It Quits After 27 Seasons

American Pickers is “done” after 27 seasons, Danielle Colby announced in a video discussing “big transitions” amid the end of an era.
On Wednesday, Dec. 3, Colby took to Instagram with a video message on her 50th birthday.
“OK, here we go! BIG transitions in the works.🎉🎉🎉,” Colby captioned her update.
In the clip, the History Channel star began by sharing a recap of how she spent her special day, including presents and breakfast out with her husband, Jeremy Scheuch. She explained that in addition to turning 50 this year, she recently opened her own business dedicated to the history of burlesque, the Ecdysiast Arts Museum, in Davenport, Iowa.
That’s when Colby bluntly dropped the bomb, “And I just found out that American Pickers is done.”
She continued, “So, I am at this epic crossroads where I’ve laid out what I want to do. So I already have that plan in motion. But now is the time where I like have to, like, fully dig in and commit to this plan that I have laid out. And without the financial support of American Pickers, it’s going to be a wild one.”
To conclude the video, Colby acknowledged that she needs to “mentally shift and figure out how to do this, completely DIY.” She also promised to take fans along by filming the journey.
“You can come with me on this process as a former reality TV star just trying to find her f–king way in the world. Because what do I do now?” she added. “I’ve got the plan. We’re moving forward. But how do I make money with a museum, that’s the question… Wish me luck.”
Given that Colby’s costar, Mike Wolfe, has a new History Channel show coming out in 2026 called History’s Greatest Picks With Mike Wolfe, her claim that American Pickers is ending didn’t come totally out of left field.
When asked whether the show has been canceled, a representative from the History Channel told Parade via email, “American Pickers is still airing premieres into 2026. We are next premiering Mike Wolfe’s new series—History’s Greatest Picks with Mike Wolfe—beginning February 22.”
Additionally, a rep for the History Channel noted, “We aren’t producing new episodes right now… but we could go back into production early next year.”
American Pickers premiered in 2010, starring Wolfe, Colby, and Frank Fritz, who died at age 60 in September 2024. In March, Wolfe shared that the show was on its first hiatus in 15 years.
Fans of the long-running series showered Colby with words of support. One Instagram user shared, “This is the beginning of something beautiful and brand new. I’m here to support you wherever possible and we got this ❤️.”
Another follower wrote, “So excited to see this next adventure! I’m always around to help out however I can!!! Happiest of birthdays to you!!!!! ❤️.”
Someone else echoed, “Whatever you end up doing will be amazing!!! You are such a talented, strong woman! You got this girl! ❤️.”
Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user commented, “You got this … complete faith in your journey and courage to DYI once again 🙌🏻.”
Despite a report that Colby deleted her Instagram account after claiming American Pickers was “done,” the history fanatic is still active on the social media platform.
