Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of August 11-15 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.
Top 10 Hits and Misses
10. MISS: Joss sees Britt first (GH). There is a connection between Joss (Eden McCoy) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). Britt “died” saving Joss. But the fact that the rookie WSB Agent was the first Port Charles person (that we know of) who spotted Britt alive, unfortunately, didn’t hit the right feels. And as a result, Jason’s (Steve Burton) and Britt’s moment wasn’t as special. Don’t get us wrong. It was still a cool moment, just not as cool as it could have been.
9. HIT: Victoria stands up to Victor (Y&R). Last week, we applauded Claire (Hayley Erin) for standing up to Victor (Eric Braeden). This week, it was Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) turn to call Victor out for messing with her relationships, practically her whole life. Loved how she told him that watching him manipulate Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire was triggering for her. That Claire was in danger of having her heart broken, but it wasn’t because of Kyle. It was because of Victor, who didn’t like what his daughter had to say. But it needed to be said.
8. MISS: Nick’s odd non-proposal (B&B). In Wednesday’s episode, Nick (Jack Wagner) walked into Forrester Creations again and told Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) what he wanted to have happen in Italy. He took out the gorgeous ring, and Brooke looked at it in awe. And then that beat didn’t continue until Thursday, when Nick was gone and Brooke talked to Katie (Heather Tom) about it. She said that Nick said he’d hold onto it until he returned. What just happened? Why did things play out that way?
7. HIT: Johnny defends Chanel (DAYS). Johnny (Carson Boatman) laid down the law with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). He wanted his dad to take it easy on Chanel (Raven Bowens) on the stand. But, of course, he didn’t, and so Johnny fired his father. Who knows if it’ll stick, but we loved Johnny standing up for his wife.
6. MISS: Kat, Tomas…and the couch of doom (BTG). What’s with Kat (Colby Muhammad) and Tomas (Alex Alegria) having a second go at it on Kat and Chelsea’s (RhonniRose Mantilla) couch? Aren’t there beds in that guest house? Since this second round went about as well as the first (meaning not well), maybe they should try Tomas’s place next.
5. HIT: BTG’s Dani and Y&R’s Devon (BTG). Devon’s (Bryton James) crossover scene with Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) was quick — they crossed paths while she walked into the country club and he walked out. But for that brief period, there was a nice chemistry between the two as the characters reconnected. It’s official. Karla Mosley has chemistry with just about everyone.
4. MISS: Sarah slaps Xander (DAYS). While Xander’s drunken antics aren’t helping his case for full custody of Victoria, that slap that Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) gave Xander (Paul Telfer) this week doesn’t help hers either. Instead, it showed that her anger issues may not be as intense and damaging as Xander’s, but she does have them as well. That slap was beyond harsh and hard to watch.
3. HIT: Scout’s perspective (GH). Everybody has been talking about Scout (Cosette Abinante). However, we barely ever see her with her brothers or her grandmother and aunts. And we certainly don’t ever see her with her father. So it was good to know that she asked Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) to pick her up at camp and take her to the Quartermaines so she could spend time with the people she loves. We’ve been wondering what she’s been going through, and now we know.
2. MISS: No on-screen goodbye for Chance (Y&R). The goodbye to Chance took place off-screen, and we had to hear that Abby and Dominic were there. We had to hear about how distraught Nina was, and that it was great that Jill was there to support her. Chance was a legacy character that people cared about. He deserved more.
1. HIT: Luna and her grandmas (B&B). While we don’t for one second believe that Luna (Lisa Yamada) is going to get her redemption, it really is fun to see her grandmas have to work together to take care of her and try to talk her down from her Will obsession. Naomi Matsuda and Kimberlin Brown are really good scene partners.
Jury’s Out Moment of the Week: Leslie is Barbara’s daughter (BTG). Yeah, we’re going to have to wait until we see more of this next phase of the Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) story play out. This is a character who has done awful things, and she may be on the precipice of inheriting a fortune and getting everything she ever wanted. This could end up being fun over-the-top melodrama, or we may be frustrated to see a character who did such despicable things not get an ounce of comeuppance yet.
Honorable Mentions
B&B
MISS: Ivy keeps raving about Liam, but when was the last time she talked to him? We’re pretty sure this has made our list before. But we’re going to keep including it until Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) and Liam (Scott Clifton) are actually in the same room again, having an actual conversation. Liam has a lot to talk about right now, like surviving two massive traumas.
BTG
HIT: Vernon’s quote to Ted, who reeled from Nicole serving him divorce papers. It was everything. “You put less effort into saving your marriage than you did into building a relationship with the child who tried to destroy it.” Vernon (Clifton Davis) had Ted’s number. Ted (Keith D. Robinson) thinks he put in the work to win back Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix). He hasn’t.
DAYS
HIT: Belle rips into EJ. This is the scene at the DiMera mansion, not in the courtroom. Belle (Martha Madison) said some really good things on the way to telling her ex that, after the trial, she never wants to see him again. She compared him to Stefano and said that EJ used her like a pawn, just like Stefano used John. In addition, she told him he pretended to have a soul. We don’t pretend it’ll be a wake-up call for EJ, but we appreciated Belle’s well-deserved tongue-lashing. Let’s see if she keeps up the energy in the future.
GH
HIT: Alexis channels her inner Cassadine. As Drew continues to tap deeper and deeper into his dark side, he sure triggered a similar reaction in Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) after he ordered Chase (Josh Swickard) to arrest Danny for “kidnapping” Scout from camp. He further decided to isolate Scout by telling Alexis he would not let his daughter have any contact with her brothers, her aunts, or her grandmother. And the look that appeared on her face was all Natasha. If Drew had any self-awareness, he would have been scared.
Y&R
MISS: Audra desperately tries to seduce Kyle back in Genoa City. Victor fired Audra (Zuleyka Silver)…again. But she wouldn’t let it go, and she ultimately decided to potentially sacrifice her relationship with Nate (Sean Dominic) in a desperate bid to get Vibrante back. She kissed Kyle at Society, and Claire witnessed it. And then she tried to make it seem like Kyle couldn’t help but kiss her. We understand she wants to run her own company, but at this point, she needs to take some time and maybe go work for Sally (Courtney Hope) at Abbott Communications. Just for now until she can regroup.
