Today’s very sadðŸ˜new!!Survivor 50 Loses a major player to a stunning medical emergency

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans got off to an amazing start, but just when we were starting to forget about how brutal this game actually is, we had an unfortunate reminder.
Kyle Fraser, the winner of Survivor 48 and one of the most intriguing players out in Fiji for Survivor 50, was removed from Survivor 50 by medical evacuation after getting injured in the first immunity challenge.

Kyle Fraser is removed from Survivor 50 after injuring his leg
During the challenge, Kyle tried to run up this giant wall as the final player for his tribe. Immediately, he starts limping and can’t continue in the challenge. Jeff Probst stops the challenge, and Kyle is examined by the doctors.
Dalton Ross of Entertainment Weekly shared the video of Kyle’s injury on X.
Eventually, Kyle claims he wants to continue. Q Burdette hops down and lifts Kyle up where his tribe can pull him up the wall. Their tribe eventually finishes second in the immunity challenge, avoiding tribal council. But, Kyle is still very injured.
When it happened, Kyle said it was his ankle, but I thought immediately that he had an Achilles tendon injury. I’ve seen so many videos of people running up walls like that and tearing their Achilles, and that appears to be what happened here.

After the challenge, Kyle seems okay. He got his leg wrapped up and limped around camp for one day. On Day 4, Jeff Probst and Doctor Joe arrive. They do a quick ultrasound to see if they can see damage to the tendon. Kyle continues to get evaluated by the medical staff, and he is pulled from the game.
This is obviously devastating for Kyle, and it sucks for fans, too. He’s one of the three winners who had a chance to become a two-time winner, the first since Tony Vlachos in Winners at War. We do have Savannah Louie and Dee Valladares still in the running, but it’s still such a bummer that Kyle had to leave the game in this fashion.
The only solace is that Kyle leaves the game, again, not having been voted out. He will, if he chooses, have another chance to become a two-time winner. Jeff Probst recently revealed returning player seasons will be back after Survivor 50, so that’s the good news. I have no doubt Kyle will be able to play again
Heading into the Survivor 50 premiere, there were rumors and rumblings that there would be a medical evacuation in the first episode of the season. Obviously, we didn’t know if that was actually going to happen, but it’s clear that there was truth to those rumors.
This is a developing story. We’ll share more information as we find out…
