The Young and the Restless Recap Friday, May 23: Jack Declares War On Victor, Lauren & Nikki Clash

The Young and the Restless spoilers and recaps for Friday May 23 imply it was an eventful day in the land of Genoa City.

The show started things off with a little chit chat between Diane Abbott (Susan Walters) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about their honeymoon plans, while at the Abbott mansion.

Diane filled Jack in on their Italy-Greece-France excursion, and both talked about how nice the vacay will be when they get there.

Diane heads to Jabot, where she finds Kyle in Jack’s chair.

She informs him about her trip with his dad, but worries about taking that much time away from the company, and Kyle assures her that he’s got things covered.

The conversation turns to his plan to gather information from Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), and his mom warns about getting involved with the brunette.

This is when things get really deep, and Kyle wonders if he’s a good person.

After all, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) challenged him with his deceitfulness.

Is he at all different from the scheming Victor Newman (Eric Braeden)?

After all, it wasn’t too long ago that he stole a product from Jabot, his family’s company, just to impress Victor at Glissade.

Diane reminded him that he did end up making things right. But does he have the capacity to be the man Claire wants him to be?

Diane believes he does, after all, his new gal pal doesn’t want him to be perfect, just to think before he acts!

Of course, just after Diane mentions this, Kyle gets a text from Audra about having a drink together as she wants to run an idea past him.

After the discussion about wanting to do better and be better, Kyle accepts Audra’s drink offer and Diane admits considering what’s at stake, she can’t blame him.

Over at the GCAC, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman) share some lunch together.

Still, Lauren has some bad news for Nikki: Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) is set to meet Victor today to resign, which shocks Nikki.

Jack joins them, and the three talk about how Victor won’t make this easy on Michael.

Nikki insists Michael can’t do this, and Lauren interjects and states there are plenty of attorneys out there that Victor can hire to replace him.

Still, Nikki counters back and states that Victor listens to Michael and in a lot of ways, Michael helps hold Victor back from doing some unimaginable things.

Lauren tells Nikki that Michael can no longer act as Victor’s conscience, and Jack agrees.

Nikki reminds them both that Victor may go on the attack where Jack is concerned, and Jack tells her that he can handle it; Michael shouldn’t remain in a job just because of him.

Over at the Newman Ranch, Michael swings by to visit Victor.

After some business small talk, the lawyer nicely (and gently) resigns as Victor’s attorney.

At first, Victor doesn’t take him seriously. After all, he has quit before and always comes back.

With that said, Michael makes it clear that he’s doing this for Lauren and his family.

This is when Victor asks if he wants more money and to name his price, and Michael declines the offer.

Victor then tells Michael he won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

The two banter around for a bit, and Michael pleads with Victor not to make this harder than it already is.

Victor points out that Michael is like a son, and “family doesn’t abandon family!”

He demands to know the real reason for Michael quitting, and the lawyer notes that while Victor is an incredible man, his vendetta against Jack is just too much.

This is when Michael reminds Victor of how he stayed back when Ian Ward (Ray Wise) held the family at gunpoint in the Newman home, and Michael refused to leave.

Michael noted that Victor told him then that he owed him one, and he was ready to claim his favor.

Michael’s request is to just allow him to resign in peace.

Nikki showed up home just as Michael was leaving, and Victor declared that he didn’t ever want her to mention Michael Baldwin’s name again!

Jack and Diane arrive back home around the same time and talk about their day.

Jack updates her on Michael quitting Victor, which worries Diane.

After all, this will place Victor on a rampage. Should they still go on their trip?

Jack confidently tells her that if Victor fights them, they’ll fight back – Diane sports a concerned look.

The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that the Abbott versus Newman feud is not going anywhere, anytime soon, so who will throw the first punch in this next round as Victor and Jack battle each other for the umpteenth time!
