The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Executive Producer Josh Griffith Teases ‘What’s Next’ For Sharon/Ian/Jordan Storyline
The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that November sweeps has been an interesting month in the land of Genoa City. Not only have Ian Ward (Ray Wise) and Jordan (Colleen Zenk) returned, but fans also learned they were the ones behind Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) demise and that their target is Sharon Newman (Sharon Case).
Of course, Sharon decided to confess recently as well, so there’s a ton of legal drama on the horizon for her, too.
Y&R’s executive producer, Josh Griffith, recently talked about this intriguing storyline to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) and offered some hints on what’s to come.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Sharon Newman Was Never The Intended Murderer
Griffith reveals to SOD what a lot of fans had thought, and that was, Sharon was never the intended character to murder Heather, which is why she blacked out during the who event.
When it comes to the criteria of who it was, Griffith states, “I knew that it needed to be somebody who not only we could come up with motive for the killing, but that also the reveal would be massive.”
Griffith goes on to say that the show started looking into the history of who had ‘beef’ with the Newmans, and they landed on Ian Ward. But how did Jordan get placed in the mix of things?
He goes on to say, “I actually watched Strangers on a Train, the Hitchcock film, because I’m a Hitchcock fanatic. I hadn’t watched it in a while and I started thinking about the idea of crisscross, which is important in that movie: ‘You do my crime and I’ll do yours.’ And I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be interesting if Ian had an accomplice that equally needed something to happen because they were angry and they felt they’d been wronged?’ And I said, ‘Well, we’ve got Jordan in prison…’”
Y&R Spoilers – What’s To Come …
Fans should expect major drama on the horizon, as this storyline not only involves a ton of history: the Shick versus Phick saga, the animosity between Sharon and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei), the hate Ian has towards Sharon and the Newmans, as well as Jordan’s unwavering need for revenge.
On Shick versus Phick, Griffith states, “The whole genesis of this charts back to the night Cassie died, and that loss of Cassie is what propelled Nick and Phyllis to have an affair. It all goes back to that moment, and there was no question that they had to be key players in this next arc. Them and Daniel.”
Griffith hints that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will be a firecracker ready to explode and see Sharon pay for what she’s done; however, fans should expect some sort of plot twist where this is concerned.
He also talks about the possibility of a Shick reunion, as Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) seems like the only one who’s gut instinct is telling him something is off with Sharon’s story.
He adds that the Shick connection is “strong” right now, and when SOD questions if this is because of the couple’s history or because of a reunion, Griffith notes, “I think it could possibly be all of the above.”
But who exactly are Ian and Jordan targeting (other than Sharon)? Griffith closes by saying all of the Newmans, but Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), specifically.
