The Young and the Restless spoilers note that fans learned some sad news this week, as actress Allison Lanier announced on the social media platform X, she was exiting the soap.

In fact, she noted her final airdate was Friday, May 2. Soap Opera Digest (SOD) reported on the story and noted that sources have stated there are no immediate recast plans for Summer Newman.

During Friday’s show, fans saw Summer take an emergency trip to Milan to find someone to help her with Marchetti, as both Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) resigned from the company.

At first, Summer was freaked out at losing her two top employees, but after some thought, she offered them her support and hit the ground running to find their replacements. What happens next?

Will Summer Go Missing? Or Possibly Die?

It’s hard to imagine the soap would kill off a legacy character like Summer, but most soap fans know that even death doesn’t mean a person can’t return to the canvas.

With that said, as there are no plans to recast Summer, this means she’ll be off-screen for the next couple of months at the very least.

It’s hard to imagine that Summer would stay away from Genoa City for that long, especially from her son, Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell).

So, will Summer’s plane go missing or crash (either on her way to Milan or back)? Will she get kidnapped or go MIA while in Milan? What will keep her away from GC for the time being or beyond?

The Hunter King Factor

Who wouldn’t love to see Hunter King back as Summer Newman? The actress played the character before Allison Lanier stepped into the role, and while fans did love the Summer recast, there’s nothing like the original, right?

Is the show swerving fans? King is in demand right now, especially through her Hallmark Channel movies, but if she were to step into the role of Summer again, technically, that wouldn’t be a recast.

Then again, there might be a bigger story on the horizon where Summer is concerned, so fans will have to wait and see
