Today’s very sad😭new!! Colby Donaldson’s Shocking Injury from Survivor 50 – Says Injury Was ‘Worst Infection’ Show’s Doctors Ever Saw
Colby Donaldson’s return to Survivor 50 was anything but easy. The reality TV star revealed shocking details about his severe injuries during exit interviews.

Known for being a strong competitor in previous seasons like Survivor: The Australian Outback and Survivor: All-Stars, Colby decided to seize the opportunity to join Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans. Fans witnessed a calmer Colby this season, but his game took a turn when he was voted out on Day 13, largely affected by the Blood Moon twist.
Colby Donaldson’s Painful Foot Injury
During a recent episode, Colby opened up about a significant injury to his foot. Although it slowed him down, he persevered. He later discovered that he had two serious injuries on the same foot, either of which could have ended his game.
“One was a torn ligament. That wouldn’t have taken me out of the game,” Colby shared with PEOPLE. “It was painful, but the doc said, ‘Look, Colby, it’s gonna suck for you. You’re not going to do very good in the challenges. However, it’s not something I’m going to take you out of the game [for].’”
However, the challenges took a toll, especially given the nature of Episode 6’s Immunity Challenge.
Colby Suffers from a Bad Infection
Colby’s troubles didn’t end there. “The other injury was a puncture wound that introduced bacteria leading to an infection,” he explained. This infection worsened significantly, starting from Day 9 through Day 12.
“I couldn’t hide it from everyone because my limp was so bad,” he recalled. “But around camp, it was obvious I had an injury,” leading to a slow decline in his performance as the infected area made it difficult to compete effectively.
The infection was so serious that Colby mentioned the doctor had never witnessed one as severe on the show, raising concerns about its potential impact on his gameplay had he survived longer into the season.
