Some feel that having Zac Brown featured for so long was “unnecessary and forced” on Wednesday night.
As a quick reminder, the tribe that won the Immunity Challenge got treated to good food and music.
Host Jeff Probst was very excited to reveal that Zac Brown would be featured.
A long segment then showed Zac Brown spearfishing as he spoke about loving Survivor. Later, he ate with the tribe, and then he performed some songs.
It was a lot. It felt like most of the episode was dedicated to the celebrity appearance.
We get it. This is an effort to attract more people to Survivor. But alienating the original fan base is a mistake.

Survivor fans react to Zac Brown’s appearance
“Like… I get it, Zac Brown is a fan but this feels very unnecessary and forced. Like who is watching Survivor for this guy!? Like I want to watch the 50th season of the show and watch SURVIVOR GAMEPLAY! Not a celeb’s make-a-wish #Survivor,” wrote one fan.
“With the way this vote is looking and the zac brown of it all this might be the worst episode in survivor history #Survivor #Survivor50,” someone noted during the episode. “What an absolute whiff by Survivor here. So much good will built up through these first 3 episodes and now we’re spending 20 minutes on Zac Brown? I’m sure it’s a very cool experience for the players but this could’ve been done in 5 minutes max. Bizarre #Survivor50,” opined another fan.
A few years ago, Survivor stopped doing family visits. The fans loved them, but the producers wanted to save the expense and time.
Instead, we get something like the Zac Brown experience on Wednesday night. And fans noticed.
“Fans: ‘We want family visits!’ Probst: ‘Best I can do is Zac Brown.’ #Survivor,” joked a fan.
But the joke rings true.

Survivor 50 episode rated really low
The March 18 episode is rated 4.2 out of 10. That makes it the lowest-rated episode ever.
But was the episode even that bad? No. Mike White’s blindside was pretty epic. And the castaways all fought hard during an intense Immunity Challenge.
The night was ruined by the producers pushing too much Zac Brown on the viewers.
Hopefully, the upcoming Mr. Beast crossover doesn’t also take away from the celebratory season.
