As Kayla explains to Maggie at the hospital why there’s no news on Sarah’s condition, Kristen rushes up, demanding to know if Rolf’s serum worked. Kayla reminds her only family gets updates. Kristen counters she provided the miracle drug. Maggie interrupts to inform Kristen there’s been no change. Kristen thinks Sarah just needs to try walking and leaves to take the bull by the horns.

In Sarah’s hospital room, Xander says that Victoria asks for her mother when he sings her lullabies at night. Sarah teases him about his singing voice. She then wonders, what if the serum doesn’t work? Xander urges her to give it some time. Kristen bursts in and paws at Sarah, imploring her to push herself to walk again. Xander drags Kristen to the door and literally throws her out.

Ava gives off a frosty vibe when Brady invites her to sit with him at the Pub. He heads to her table, wondering if he did something wrong. “No,” she says. “But your jackass of a son certainly did.” He sits down, asking for more details. Ava angrily tells him Tate called Sophia by Holly’s name while in bed. Taken aback, Brady tries to defend his son as just being a teen. Besides, he and Ava have both screwed up plenty, and they’re no longer teens. Ava grins, unable to deny it. However, she’s upset that Sophia’s heart is broken. Brady blames himself for being distracted with Sarah. Ava apologizes for lashing out at him, and they discuss Sarah.

In the Square, Tate and Holly marvel over getting another chance and not having to hide their relationship. He kisses her as Sophia walks up. She scoffs over them not taking long to reunite. Tate tries to apologize, but Sophia cuts him off. She tells Holly not to be surprised if he calls her Sophia. “What?!” Holly exclaims. Tate leads Holly away.

Later, Aaron finds Sophia at a table digging into a very large piece of chocolate cake. She tells him she’s rewarding herself for not committing murder upon learning Tate and Holly are back together. Aaron reels over Tate’s ping-ponging as Sophia tells him what happened. Aaron tops her sob story by saying his brother is in jail for attempted murder — and that’s not even half of it. Sophia has nowhere else to be, so “lay it on me.”

At the Kiriakis mansion, Holly brings snacks to the living room as Tate does homework. When she mentions Sophia’s weird comment about him calling Holly by Sophia’s name in bed, Tate sheepishly admits that’s what he did to Sophia. After processing this new information, Holly says she assumed he broke up with Sophia, not the other way around. Did he only run back to Holly because things ended with Sophia? Tate assures Holly she’s not his backup. All he’s ever wanted is to be with her. She’s everything to him. She feels the same and kisses him. “Do you want to go up to my room?” she asks.

At the hospital, Sarah and Xander fill in Kayla and Maggie about Kristen’s antics. Maggie assumes she’s so invested in Sarah walking again to score points with Brady. Sarah admits that Kristen isn’t entirely wrong that she should push herself. When Kayla gives the okay, Xander helps Sarah stand and then catches her when she promptly falters.

At the Pub, Ava apologizes to Brady for her earlier outburst. She’s going through a rough time and misses her son. It means a lot that she has his friendship. He reciprocates her sentiment and hugs her as Kristen enters. Kristen’s surprised to learn they’re friends and then relays that there’s no news on Sarah yet. She thinks it’d make a difference if Brady went to the hospital and encouraged Sarah.

After Brady leaves the Pub, Kristen confronts Ava for betraying her by going after her ex. Ava points out that Kristen betrayed her by firing her, and besides, they were just talking, and Kristen and Brady are not together. Kristen thinks it’s just a matter of time. Smirking, Ava says Brady never made her any promises in exchange for the serum. “I wouldn’t get my hopes up if I were you,” she says before sauntering away. Kristen seethes.

In the Square, Sophia gives Aaron the rest of her chocolate cake upon hearing about his family turmoil. After finishing, he says that it helped, or maybe it was talking to her that did the trick. When he says he has to study, she suggests they do something fun instead. After getting over the surprise that she even asked, Aaron agrees. She suggests they watch Body and Soul and leads him away.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Tate tells Holly he doesn’t want to rush things with her and make a mistake. He’s okay with waiting to ensure their first time together is special. Plus, he wants to take her out on a proper date. Maybe go dancing and see where things take them. Later, when they can’t concentrate on homework, Tate plays a song on his phone and pulls Holly up to dance in his arms.

Brady finds Xander at the coffee station in the hospital lobby. Xander fills him in on Kristen’s visit and Sarah’s failed attempt at walking. He expresses his frustration and apologizes for blaming Brady for Sarah’s accident. Brady is understanding. Xander offers him his job back at Basic Black. Brady accepts and assures a distraught Xander that the serum will work.

Alone in her hospital room with Maggie, Sarah worries she’s letting Xander down. She knows he blames himself because of his mother. The only way he’ll let go of the guilt is if she walks again. Maggie wheels Sarah’s food tray over and trips. A water bottle falls to Sarah’s lap. “I felt that!” Sarah excitedly exclaims.
