Doug’s looking at a picture of Tate and Holly when she rushes in with the news that Julie already told Maggie about the necklace — courtesy of Tate. “My freaking boyfriend ratted you out.” Doug apologizes for causing her stress and insists it’s all his fault, but Holly’s too busy being angry at Tate.
Doug tries giving Tate the benefit of the doubt, but Holly’s not interested. She tells Doug he can stay here for now — Maggie never said no — then goes out to yell at Tate, while he gets dressed to look for work.
Out in the square, Doug rushes over to Sophia in her Bistro outfit, saying he put in an application for the assistant manager job and if Ava’s in. No, but Sophia can take his name and contact info. She sees his name. “You’re Doug Williams!” She’s heard of him and is pretty sure he’s heard of Sophia Choi.
They get into what they know, and Doug says Holly’s heading to Tate to confront him for narcing on him. Sophia insults the “jobless thief” a few times, then suggests that this could be good for him. It could free Holly up for Doug. He, in turn, throws back at Sophia that it could be good for her, too, since she clearly wants Tate.

He saw how excited she was to hear Holly was going to yell at Tate. “Tate might be playing naive, not knowing what’s going on, but I do. You’re playing the long game.”
Holly Lays Into Tate
Tate tries calling Johnny to apologize about the adoption snafu, only to hang up when JJ comes knocking at the door on official police business. He’s got questions about the necklace, and Tate’s shocked Julie got the police involved. “You’re part of the investigation now.” Tate worriedly asks if Doug will be arrested. If Julie presses charges, yes.
JJ was just giving Tate a heads up and he’ll be in touch soon about the statement. Ok, then. “This is not good,” Tate mutters after he’s gone.
It doesn’t take long for Holly to burst in demanding to know why Tate snitched on Doug. He says he did it to protect her, but she calls out his bull, saying it was to hurt Doug. They get into it, and things only get worse when Tate realizes Holly gave Doug money to pay off his debt. She doesn’t let Tate off the hook and screams that he’s hated Doug since New Year’s Eve.
Thanks to him, Doug’s relationship with Julie is over. Tate’s aghast, saying that’s Doug’s own fault. Then he let’s slip that he talked to the cops, ticking Holly off even more. “You and me, we’re done.”
Melinda Has a Warning for Gabi
Over at DiMera, Gabi’s laying down the law on the phone when Melinda rushes in to talk about the DiMera “hit piece” on The Spectator. Gabi’s excited about EJ getting exposed, but Melinda warns her that Kristen was put in the crosshairs, too. With their CEO in trouble, all the company’s subsidiaries are in danger — including Gabi Chic.
Everyone’s cutting ties with DiMera already and the stock has plunged. Gabi’s line from now on when asked by anyone is “No comment.” She’s too busy worrying about losing Gabi Chic again. But then JJ pops in to see Melinda before they can panic too much.
He mentions Doug stealing the necklace — “You sure about this?” — and tells her it’s been corroborated. “Let me guess, the other party is his mouthy little sidekick, Holly Jonas.” Wait, what, JJ wonders. Whoops. Melinda tries leaving, but JJ demands the necklace back, telling him she can’t do that.
She sold the necklace, but won’t say to whom. They’re done here. Melinda saunters out.
Sarah Tells Stephanie to Sacrifice Herself
Sarah rushes into Stephanie’s apartment to tell her they have a massive problem — just as Alex comes out into the living room. He offers to help them solve their problem, whatever it is. Hospital fundraiser! That’s the problem! Sarah’s pitching in for Kayla. Cool, Alex can stick around and help, too. No, no, Steph says, he should get to the office.

Alex heads out and Sarah rushes right into Xander thinking Stephanie and Philip are having an affair. She doesn’t quite convince Steph, though, that this is better than the truth. “Better for who, exactly?” Stephanie demands. This is putting her relationship in jeopardy.
Sarah tries shrugging it off, then, when Stephanie demands to know what she’s supposed to do if Xander tells Alex, says she could just let her boyfriend believe it. Stephanie’s jaw drops open. She’s horrified and says maybe Sarah should tell Xander the truth. Nah, let’s not do that, Sarah says. The lie’s gone on too long.
Stephanie points out that she’s supposed to hurt Alex and destroy her relationship because of this stupid secret that has nothing to do with either of them. Sarah begs her to at least say they hooked up a few times and it’s over. The truth will cost her Xander forever, and that’s more important than Stephanie and Alex, right?
Then she brings Victoria into it to guilt Stephanie further, just before Alex gets back. Sarah slinks out and Alex doesn’t waste any time. “Look me in my eye and tell me you are not sleeping with Philip.”
Xander Tells Alex the ‘Truth’
Philip excitedly tries talking to Xander about Leo’s DiMera piece, but his brother’s not looking to celebrate. He needs to talk about Philip and Stephanie’s secret. Cue a panicked look on Philip’s face. He resignedly admits it was stupid, only to turn confused when Xander tells him he’s been sleeping with Stephanie behind Alex’s back.
Philip can barely get a word in edgewise, and eventually Xander snaps at Philip to pull it together before he and Alex come to blows. Philip insists the secret Xander is talking about isn’t what he thinks, which prompts Xander to mention him having sex with Stephanie Johnson — full name — just as Alex walks in.

He overheard it and demands to know if it’s true, and Xander says it is when Philip freezes up. Alex grabs Philip and starts yelling and threatening, but Xander pulls them apart. Alex says he’s out and storms out and Xander tells Philip to end his affair with Stephanie now. “Don’t worry, brother, from now I won’t’ go anywhere near Stephanie!”
Holly Cuts Tate Loose
In the show’s final moments, Gabi tells JJ she’s sorry Melinda won’t help, but he insists Trask will talk, one way or another. Sophia, meanwhile, insists Doug is wrong. She’s past all that Tate stuff. They both claim they want their respective crushes to be happy.
Tate tries to grasp the fact that Holly’s breaking up with him for hurting Doug, breaking his promise, being jealous and getting stuck with “this baby that you can’t get rid of!” It’s been constant stress and drama since they got back together. “When you love someone, it’s not supposed to be like this.” (Actually, good words of wisdom, Holly.)
She doesn’t think they’re meant to be together.

Sarah gets home, asking if Xander knows why Alex went home looking like he punched someone. That would be Xander’s fault. He told Alex. At Stephanie’s place, she thinks back to Sarah’s demands and instead tells Alex that she has been keeping a secret with Philip, “But it’s not what you think.”
