Although the show has yet to announce any plans for a recast, it’s quite plausible that Summer will return in some capacity in the future. Should that occur, Hunter King might be open to reprising her former role.
However, she has been busy with various other projects, including Hallmark Movies, which could make her availability uncertain.
If Hunter isn’t an option, Y&R could consider casting a different actress, allowing Summer to return with a fresh face, as there is ample storyline potential to explore.
Summer Needs To Return Either Way, And She’s The Perfect Character To Make Cane Pay!
Regardless, Summer must make her way back to Genoa City at some point – and when the time comes, perhaps she might want Cane to pay.
In fact, she could be the ideal person to seek revenge for Chance! Although Summer and Chance’s relationship didn’t succeed, it doesn’t imply that she has ceased to care for him.
Upon learning of Chance’s tragic end, it could evoke old emotions, leading Summer to ponder what could have been.
There’s a chance that Chance and Summer could have rekindled their romance if she had managed to move past her lingering feelings for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).
Summer Will Play The Blame Game
Regardless, Summer may hold Cane responsible for inviting Chance to that party and allowing his assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba), to go off the rails. If Cane had simply left Chance alone, he wouldn’t have encountered such a dire outcome.
Naturally, Summer will be furious about Cane taking Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) hostage and permitting him to sustain serious injuries as well. Nick’s life was at stake, which is undoubtedly a valid reason for Summer’s anger.
Additionally, Cane is targeting Chancellor and even Newman Enterprises, and witnessing Cane make significant power moves that impact Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and the entire Newman family.
Could Summer Fall For Cane, In Spite Of Herself?
It’s clear why Summer would seek revenge on Cane, so what if her return narrative involves going after him?
Summer could attempt to charm Cane as part of a grand plan to gain the advantage. It would be entertaining to see Summer manipulate Cane as part of a vengeful plot, possibly even falling for him genuinely along the way.
After all, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) isn’t anywhere close to reconciling with Cane, allowing the show to explore other romantic possibilities in the meantime. In any case, Summer might return home viewing Cane as the foe and ultimately turn him into her lover!
