Congratulations🥳🥳 Parvati Shallow is being celebrated as the true standard-bearer of Survivor
In Vulture’s “Masterminds of Reality TV” Class of 2026, Parvati Shallow is being celebrated as the true standard-bearer of Survivor, and the praise is impossible to ignore.

Whenever anyone — Jeff Probst included — is asked who belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Survivor, one name almost always comes up: the legendary Parvati Shallow. So it hardly comes as a surprise that she was included in Vulture’s Class of 2025 “Masterminds of Reality TV.”
The feature credits her with helping create the kind of “villain” archetype viewers actually root for, pointing to “her signature game style of deception with a smile.” In many ways, she helped open the door for a new generation of female strategists who play hard, unapologetically, and win while doing it. Her impact also reaches well beyond Survivor. Across the broader reality-TV landscape, she has become a standout figure, showing that sharp strategy — in any franchise — does not have to be treated like a dirty word.
“Male Survivors still shake in their boots at the prospect of all-female alliances solely because of how formidable Shallow’s ‘Black Widow Brigade’ performed.” – Vulture’s “Masterminds of Reality TV.”

Parvati, best known for winning Survivor: Micronesia, has remained a firm fixture in the reality competition world in recent years. After competing on four different seasons of American Survivor — winning her second appearance and finishing runner-up in her third — she went on to appear on Traitors and Deal or No Deal Island, where she maintained a nine-week immunity streak for much of the game.
Her most recent appearance came on Australian Survivor, where she reunited with former Black Widow Brigade ally Cirie Fields before taking the win. According to Traitors season 1 casting director Jazzy Collins, Parvati understands gameplay so deeply that “she can literally go on any competition show and just destroy.”
The piece also spotlights two legendary Survivor figures named Rob: Boston Rob Mariano for his work alongside Bob the Drag Queen on Peacock’s official Traitors podcast, and Rob Cesternino for “Rob Has a Podcast.” Both were recognized for helping turn reality competition into a larger pop-culture conversation, with RHAP described as the center of the Survivor fandom.
If we had the final word, we’d also give Survivor itself a nod for remaining the gold standard of reality competition television. Survivor 50 has been a wild ride, which has made the season especially exciting for fans after 25 years on the air. While many would have loved to see Parvati back in the game, she made it clear she had no plans to return while hinting that Cirie would be joining the cast. And Cirie has certainly been playing a game her fellow Black Widow can be proud of.
