Tina O’Brien’s teenage daughter has quickly become a star in her own right, and the signs suggest this is only the beginning.

Scarlett Thomas, the daughter of Coronation Street actress Tina and former soap favourite Ryan Thomas, is already turning heads after carving out her own space in the industry. Ryan spent 16 years on the same ITV world as Jason Grimshaw, so showbusiness clearly runs deep in the family.

Her breakout moment came in 2023 when she made her TV debut in BBC drama Waterloo Road, appearing alongside her uncle Adam Thomas as Izzy Charles. Viewers were quick to take notice, with Scarlett earning praise for a performance that felt far more polished than someone just starting out.

Tina, who plays Sarah Platt in Corrie, was clearly over the moon at the time and proudly posted about her daughter’s success on Instagram. She wrote that she was “so proud” of Scarlett, adding that she had loved watching her portray Izzy and was thrilled to see her talent recognised with an award nomination from TV Times.

Away from the cameras, Scarlett has also been building a huge online following, regularly sharing singing clips on TikTok. She now has more than 367,600 followers on the platform, along with another 247,000 on Instagram, with both accounts launched when she turned 16, according to the Mirror.

Ryan later made the big news public himself in January, revealing that Scarlett had signed a major record deal at just 17. He called it one of the best days of his life and said watching his daughter reach that milestone was a moment he would never forget.

In a sentimental post, he explained that the timing felt almost eerie, saying the “stars were all aligned” when the family arrived at the restaurant to finalise the deal. Ryan also shared a throwback clip of Scarlett singing at the same venue five years earlier, showing just how long her talent has been on display.

The old footage showed Scarlett, then only 12, standing on a chair and belting out A Million Dreams in front of her family. Ryan said it was a full-circle moment: a childhood performance now leading to a real industry breakthrough.

Scarlett later confirmed the news herself, posting photos from the signing and describing the experience as life-changing. She said she was beyond grateful for the opportunity and hinted that she has been working hard behind the scenes for some time.

She added that she could finally share the news with fans and teased that she is excited for what the year ahead could bring, including the possibility of releasing new music.
