Last night was a painful one for many viewers as Cirie Fields had her torch snuffed for the fifth time in American Survivor history, bringing her Survivor résumé to a staggering “144 days played.” And while fans are still mourning the loss of such a beloved, iconic player before she could finally reach the endgame, Cirie says she had an incredible time on Survivor 50 and is content with the game she played.

In a new exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly’s Dalton Ross, Cirie says she believes Survivor 50 was the strongest season of her career — and it’s hard to argue with that. She sharpened her social game to an extreme, managing everyone’s plans for 23 straight days until Aubry Bracco convinced the remaining castaways that Cirie was simply too dangerous to keep around.

“When I get the title of ‘the best to have never won,’ all I hear is those first two words, the best. And that’s good enough for me.” – Cirie Fields

Now, after two decades in the game, she’s looking back on the experience with real appreciation. “I had zero regrets about the game I played,” she says, adding, “I left again with more than I bargained for. I met new people. I’ve learned more things about myself.” In the end, she felt honored to be part of the anniversary season, even though she knew the target would land on her the moment she arrived in Fiji.

“I don’t think I’m gonna make it past the first or second episode,” Cirie told her family. Instead, she made it all the way to day 23, collecting only a handful of votes along the way — nine in total, including episode 11’s revote. She goes even further, calling this season “the top of the ladder” when it comes to her all-time gameplay. For the first time in Survivor history, she played a season where the vote seemed to come for her every week, and she kept deflecting it with social maneuvering until the numbers finally disappeared.

Inconceivable
“Inconceivable” – This week’s immunity challenge is riddled with frustration, putting slow and steady gameplay to the test. Overall, she says she’s proud of how the season was edited and feels it reflected what really happened. Still, there was one detail left on the cutting room floor that she wishes viewers had seen. “I am so upset that they did not show my prowess when it comes to preparing meals. I cooked the hell out of them chickens,” she says, referring to the reward chickens her tribe won that somehow vanished. “Jonathan will tell you…I mean, finger-licking good chicken on the island! And none of it was shown.”

But the moment she says she’ll remember most — both as a player and as a fan — was Rick Devens flipping the MrBeast Super Beware Advantage coin. “I bet everybody’s mind just, they’re still picking up pieces off the floor as we speak,” she said. It was a massive moment for the season and for Survivor history, and Cirie was thrilled to witness it. Still, there’s one celebrity twist she would change.

“Me and Billie Eilish gonna have to have a talk…” she joked while discussing the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol. She liked the idea, but not the limitations. “You can’t use it on other people. Why not? Why is it only specific to that person? Yeah, that’s the only part I didn’t like.” Many fans seem to agree, especially with questions lingering about why there was only one standard idol in the game and why players couldn’t do more to protect their allies.

As for whether she’ll ever return to the game, Cirie had already told Dalton Ross before the season began that this would be her last time playing Survivor. When he asked if she still feels that way now, she answered, “I absolutely feel that way…I have received so much more than I bargained for from this 20, 21 year experience…I don’t really need to prove anything.”

And while fans will miss seeing the legend in Fiji, this may not be the end of her reality competition journey. “There may be a couple of things…” she teased when asked about other possible television appearances.
