Emmerdale fans might have to say goodbye to Steph Miligan for good, with reports suggesting that actress Georgia Jay has stepped down from the role. This move is sure to leave viewers disappointed, who were holding out hope for Steph’s return to tie up her storylines.
However, Georgia’s focus has shifted to her new life as a mother following her recent baby announcement.
Georgia Jay ‘Has No Plans to Return’
Reportedly, Georgia has no intentions of reprising her role, choosing to embrace motherhood after giving birth in June 2025.
A source shared with The Sun: “Georgia loved her time at Emmerdale, but she is focusing on being a mum right now. While open to options, returning to a full time soap schedule isn’t feasible at this moment.”
Emmerdale has declined to comment on the situation.
Baby Joy Away from the Emmerdale Spotlight
Georgia revealed her pregnancy in 2025 through a social media video alongside co-star Bradley Riches.
She shared the arrival of her daughter this past January on Instagram, posting a monochrome photo with the caption: “Nora. June 2025.”
Her co-stars were quick to congratulate her. Beth Cordingly (Ruby) remarked: “You are perfect and so is she. Love you.”
Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt) and Michelle Hardwick (Vanessa Woodfield) also expressed their excitement with warm messages.
Unresolved Storylines as Steph Exits Emmerdale
Steph departed from the village in August 2025, amid expectations of her exit due to the underwhelming attempt to hide Georgia’s pregnancy onscreen.
Her character faced harrowing story arcs, discovering that her grandfather Anthony was her biological father after he raped her mother Ruby.
In addition, she dealt with a tumultuous relationship with Ross Barton before deciding to seek a yoga retreat in Rome to heal.
Her friends, Ruby and Caleb, supported her decision despite the shock of her departure.
Fans initially anticipated her return for closure, but with these new reports, that prospect seems increasingly dim.
Dawn Also Departing
Georgia’s exit coincides with news that Olivia Bromley has been “axed” from her role as Dawn Fletcher after eight years on the show.
Olivia is expected to film her exit scenes soon, and reportedly “understood” the decision made by the soap.
A source from The Sun mentioned, “Olivia is beloved by everyone at Emmerdale, and her departure hasn’t been taken lightly.”
The exact timing of her exit is still under wraps but anticipated around summertime.
