Georgia Jay, who hasn’t graced our screens since last year due to maternity leave following the arrival of her first baby, played Steph Miligan – daughter of Ruby and Caleb.
Her character has been absent from the village since last summer. Speculation had been rife that the character would make a comeback with Georgia reprising her part. However, fresh reports suggest Georgia has chosen not to return to the ITV soap following the end of her maternity leave.
Sources claim she’s opted to step back from the role to prioritise motherhood after her daughter’s birth last year.
Given the demanding filming schedules and lengthy hours typical of soap production, reports indicate this influenced her decision to leave the part behind – at least for the time being.
An insider reportedly revealed to The Sun: “Georgia loved her time at Emmerdale but she has no plans to return now. She’s loving being a mum and that’s her focus for now.”, reports the Mirror.
“Obviously she’s open to opportunities but returning to a full-on soap schedule full-time is just not something she can do at the moment.”

One fan lamented: “The wonderful Georgia Jay has quit and will not be returning after her maternity leave đ absolutely devastated but so thankful for everything Steph Miligan and Georgia gave us.”

Actress Olivia Bromley, who joined the Dales back in 2018, is said to have been written out of the show. It’s alleged that producers feel they have “done all they can” with the character, though neither the soap nor Olivia herself have yet to address the claims.
An insider revealed: “Olivia is adored by everyone at Emmerdale so the decision to axe her has not gone down well at all. She’s a popular member of the cast and if they can get rid of Olivia then the feeling is virtually no-one is safe.
“Olivia understood their decision and is preparing to film her exit in the coming months.” It is believed her final scenes will be shot before the year is out.
